Seafoam Icing

Reviewed: Apr. 4, 2006
I used this icing for the orange drop cookies II on this site because I didn't have any icing sugar on hand...I substituted 2 tsp orange juice concentrate for the maple extract...And all that I can say is "WOW"! Very unique, reminds me of a meringue/icing mixture...Loved it! Thanks

Authentic Chinese Egg Rolls (from a Chinese person)

Reviewed: Feb. 13, 2011
These were fantastic! I used button mushrooms instead of wood ear, Chinese cabbage, honey instead of sugar, and a ginger, garlic, red pepper spice mix instead of MSG. Will make again and again!

Sweet N Sour Meatballs

Reviewed: Feb. 11, 2011
With a tsp of ground ginger, and 1/2 tsp garlic powder, this was great! Would make again for sure. I did also only add 2 Tbl of cornstarch for the consistency that I prefer.

Pumpkin Cookies with Penuche Frosting

Reviewed: Jan. 12, 2011
These were very good! I use butter instead of shortening, and chopped, dried figs instead of walnuts. Tonight I am going with chocolate chips. Very good with a maple frosting also. Just 1/2 C icing sugar and about 1 Tbl maple syrup, and just enough water for drizzling consistency. Thanks for a great one!

Easy Chicken Stew with Apple

Reviewed: Dec. 14, 2010
Delicious! I did, however, not add the celery or parsnips (subbed extra carrots); and when I went to my fridge to get the apple cider...gone! So I used enough chicken stock to cover, and added 1/4 tsp cinnamon and 1/8 tsp ground cloves to simulate some of the spices in the cider. I would thicken the sauce next time, but that's just personal preference. Thanks for a great and interesting recipe, for a cold day!

Apple Squares

Reviewed: Dec. 10, 2010
I must say that I made these "gluten free". I used gluten-free flour, and then added 1/4C apple juice to the liquid mixture and upped the diced apples to 1C. Baked for 30 minutes. Crumbly, but sooo yummy, I don't care if I am just covered in them!

Teriyaki Tenderloin

Reviewed: Nov. 13, 2010
I marinated some pork medallions in 1/2 of the sauce, which I did add garlic to. Then I added 1/4 C of brown sugar to the other half of the marinade, simmered it down until it thickened, added it to the cooked pork with some stir-fried veggies and served over rice. Really, really tasty!

Classic Greek Spinach

Reviewed: Feb. 21, 2011
Very good! I used chicken stock instead of water, and chicken bouillon instead of beef. I also added 1 tsp each of oregano, thyme and basil. A real hit at my dinner party!

Man Dip

Reviewed: Aug. 28, 2010
I did a smaller version of this, using 1 pkg cream cheese, 1 can all meat, steak chili and 8 oz cheese. It took more like 25 minutes to get bubbly. Served with tortilla chips. Everyone really loved it!

Roast Pork with Apple and Onion Gravy

Reviewed: Aug. 17, 2010
I already had pork made up and used a homemade pork gravy instead of canned in this recipe. But I really really enjoyed this gravy and would make it again and again!

This was sooo good even though I only had cream of mushroom soup and regular crackers on hand. Even my husband who isn't sold on cauliflower enjoyed it!

Nonalco Punch

Reviewed: Jul. 17, 2010
This punch is truly amazing! I have tried it with and without alcohol, and both are really great. I used 1/2 the sugar once, and didn't use any the other time; also good both ways. I also always use an imitation almond extract when taking to functions, to be prepared for allergies. Great punch every way I have made it!

Stuffed Pork Chops I

I really enjoyed this! Our chops were so thick, I butterflied them and put the stuffing in the middle instead. And I baked at 375 for 30 and then 15 minutes instead. Delicious!
