About this Cook
I've always prepared quick meals that were the same all of the time, and had a husband that never complained. Since we retired I decided to learn how to be a better cook. After much floundering around with other sites, I found AR and couldn't love it more. I love to cook organic. I find the reviews to help a lot and encourages me to experiment with recipes.
My favorite things to cook
I make all of my own organic bread and rolls, buns, etc in a bread machine, so I always enjoy new recipes for that. I love Mexican and Italian food. I buy organic as much as possible, including my flour, sugar and what few canned foods I use.
My favorite family cooking traditions
I grew up in Texas where everything was fried, so I try to keep that to a minimum. But I do love Tex-Mex. I try to adapt the recipes from my Mother and Grandmother, to healthier food.

I baked a chocolate cake from scratch!
My cooking tragedies
Asian and Indian food.

Basic Spicy Tomato Sauce
I use fresh tomatoes, and add a little tomato paste to thicken, and simmer for a few hours, it is super good. I found using my crock-pot made it too runny. I make in big batches, when tomatoes are cheap and freeze it. My goal this year was to learn to make all my sauces from scratch and I've now added this one to the list.

Chicken Parmesan
This is the first time I've tried making chicken parmesan and my hubby and I loved it. I make my own tomato/spaghetti sauce, which was very flavorful. I really liked the fact that it wasn't all tomato sauce. I loved the idea of the small sifter for the flour. I'd never pounded chicken to thin it, so that was a new experience. Thank you Chef John, I love your videos, and thanks to all you reviewers for the great suggestions. It's helped me be a much better cook.

Amish Bread
This is the bread recipe I have been looking for! A simple 5 ingredient bread that comes out perfect in my little bread machine. I have tried many other recipes, including the one that came with my bread machine, and always get a dry bread. This bread is moist, with a wonderful crust that melts in your mouth. The extra step of resetting your machine to start, giving it an extra rise, really makes this bread a notch above. I set my machine for 1 1/2 lbs, as the recipe states, but actually get a larger loaf. I make a loaf about every other day. Yum Yum!
