New York Cheesecake III

Reviewed: Nov. 3, 2008
I HIGHLY recommend making this about 2-3 days before you plan on serving it. I made it the day before my halloween party, and it was just ok. It didnt have that "bite" i was craving. But, boy, 2 days later, its fabulous!!! And even though graham cracker crust would have been yummy, the shortbread gives it a great texture. I did add about 1/4 cup of sour cream, and lessened the cream by just a little. and i added a few squirts of lemon juice. excellent!!!

Banana Pumpkin Bread

Reviewed: Aug. 16, 2008
I was expecting a real "punch" of flavor with the bread, but I thought it was sort of bland. I made it for my toddler in an attempt to get some good stuff in her. But if youre just looking for something tasty, it needs some sort of glaze or topping!

Party Pinwheels

Reviewed: Aug. 16, 2008
Nothing spectacular really. The taste was bland and too salty somehow. They fell apart even after chilling. After a party I threw, many were left on the plate. sorry!

Banana Spice Cookies

Reviewed: Jun. 13, 2008
This recipe was just ok for me. It was very bland and definately just a tiny version of banana bread. But if youre looking for a mild cake-like cookie that you might have with breakfast (without icing of course) then you will like this recipe. I also have to add that the process of making the dough is new to me. Most cookie recipes will have you beat the butter/sugar and wet ingredients and then incorporate dry ingredients to it. I'm not sure why this recipe wanted you to add two amounts of flour separately, but I just went ahead and mixed it the way i know.

Banana Bars

Reviewed: Jun. 13, 2008
I am only reviewing the icing because i used this to go with banana bread cookies also on this site. I find that there is way too much salt in the icing. I'm not sure i've ever used salt in a icing/frosting before. It was overwhelming. It was also a bit too sweet, and trust me- i like sweet, but this was a little too much!

Mini Cheesecakes I

Reviewed: Mar. 2, 2007
I feel bad to say that I am not a big fan of this recipe. It had to be cooked way longer (5 plus extra minutes) for the cheesecake to not be soupy, which made the bottom too done. Worst of all, these did not taste cheesecakey enough! if you do decide to make this recipe, you definately need to bring the cream cheese to room temperature. Maybe mini cheesecakes are supposed to take on a different taste compared to a yummy new york cheesecake, which is what i was hoping for. sorry!

Cornbread Stuffing With Sausage

Reviewed: Nov. 23, 2006
After some changes, this stuffing turned out alright. I have to say, I really think the 5 cups of bread crumbs is a misprint. I only put two cups of crumbs and about half a cup extra of chicken broth and it came out fine. Unless you like really dry stuffing, i wouldn't recommend this recipe.

Mall Pretzels

Reviewed: Feb. 5, 2006
These pretzels are pretty tasty when they first come out of the oven. They do taste just like the big pretzels you get at the mall. The first batch was gone within five minutes ! The kosher salt gives it the extra kick. However, once the pretzels cooled they were rubbery and soft. So if you plan on eating these right away, I would recommend them. If not, maybe half the recipe because you'll end up throwing them away otherwise.

English Royalty Chocolate Chip Scones

Reviewed: Feb. 2, 2006
I keep coming back to this recipe for some reason, even though it's not what you think a scone would taste like. I did have to add a few more tablespoons of butter and alot more OJ. The batter is way too sticky to roll out, so I like to just roll the batter into a ball and cook it more like a cookie. They come out yummy and plump. Also, I like to half the batter before adding the chocolate chips and either do raisins and cinnamon or blueberry. Of course I always have to make some with chocolate chips ! Overall, the batter is difficult but the taste makes up for the trouble.

Nutty Crispy Sugar Cookies

Reviewed: Jan. 31, 2006
For a simple sugar cookie recipe, this did the trick. However, for my tastes, I wanted a little more so I made the "Cinnamon Bun Icing" recipe from this site and spread it on top of the cooled sugar cookies. Then I chopped up one hersheys milk chocolate bar in my processer and sprinkled a generous portion on top of the icing. My husband who doesnt even like cheesecake (which is what the icing tastes like) gobbled them up. When I brought these to a baby shower, everyone raved! By adding these tips, these cookies were fabulous.

Chocolate Chip Shortbread Cookie Logs

Reviewed: May 20, 2005
These were AMAZING! Instead of dipping just the end of the log in chocolate, I just poured the frosting all over them :) I brought these to a party and there wasn't one left at the end of the night! I will definately make these again.

Caroline's Chocolate Fudge Frosting

Reviewed: May 20, 2005
This frosting has the perfect consistency. I used this on yellow cake cupcakes. I altered it just a bit- I only used 1/2 cup of milk (it def does not need any more than that)and i added a tablespoon or so of orange extract and grated some orange zest into the prepared batter.. It turned out yummy with a hint of orange!
