Caramel Bars

Very good, very easy. The most involved step in unwrapping caramels, and the rest is simple and quick! Very yummy...especially after they have totally cooled. I made them in an 8x8 pan, which made a nice, thick bar. Seems like a 13x9 pan would make them much too thin. I added about a half cup of coconut to the crumble mixture - excellent!! I've already made them again. They disappear VERY quickly!

Mrs. Sigg's Snickerdoodles

I've been making this same recipe since I was a child! Cookies have a great taste, and always look nice. Take them out of the oven while still puffy (I bake for 10 minutes for oven), and allow them to sit on the pan for a few minutes after baking. Cookies will flatten a bit, but still look nice and stay very chewy after cooling. I halved the amount of cinnamon simply because I don't like the darker color that the full amount gives the cookies. I used parchment paper on my pan and had no problems with the bottoms browing too much. If you're looking for a tasty, chewy, bakery-like Snickerdoodle recipe, feel confident in using this one! One batch made 26 medium-sized cookies.

Hot Artichoke and Spinach Dip II

Creamy, yummy...just great! We add a few dashes of hot sauce just to give it a bit of a kick, but it's not hot by any means. Definitely give this one a try!

Barbecued Beef

I've made this recipe SO many times, and it's a hit every time! I usually use a bit less liquid smoke, but other that I wouldn't change a thing! Excellent make-ahead dish to serve a crowd, and you can enjoy your guests!

The Best Meatballs

We LOVE these meatballs! I made them exactly as stated, only sustituting milk for the water. Well worth effort - excellent with "Best Marinara Sauce Yet"! Will be a family staple for years to come!

Gourmet Sweet Potato Classic

Sandy's Chocolate Cake

I only used the cake recipe, but it was excellent! I feel like a lot of from-scratch cake recipes end up being too dry, but this was wonderful. My husband commmented that this was the best chocolate cake he had ever eaten, and I'd have to agree! I'm not a huge super-chocolatey fan, so I used a vanilla buttercream to fill the layers and lightly frost the outside. Then I made a chocolate ganache that ran over the top and sides, and shaved white chocolate on top. I will absolutely be making the cake again. I think I'd better go have another piece right now!

A Very Popular BBQ Sauce

After realizing at the last minute that we were out of BBQ sauce, I used this recipe in for the grilled bacon-wrapped barbecued shrimp that we made tonight. It was great! We really enjoyed it, and I love having another recipe that I can use in the place of a store-bought product! Unlike some of the other recipes, this one used ingredients that you're likely to have on hand. After a quick mix and boil, we were ready to roll. Thanks so much!

Everyone agreed that this was a 5* recipe, even my husband who doesn't like desserts much. My mom and I both commented that the only thing that would make it more special would be to drizzle them with a raspberry sauce prior to serving. Can't wait to try!

Absolute Best Pancake Syrup

I was hoping to find a recipe to replace store-bought syrup, and I think we've found a winner! Keep in mind, this really doesn't taste at all like typical pancake syrup, but it does taste wonderful. To me, the syrup tastes like I put some iced cinnamon rolls in a food processor and pureed them! Be careful to use a big enough pot -- mine was fairly small, and barely contained all of the foam that is produced when the baking soda is added at the end. We used this recipe with the Grain and Nut Whole Wheat Pancakes recipe from this site - will be a definite repeat combo in the future!

Brown Sugar Brownies

My husband requested the "Butterscotch Brownies" he remembered from years ago. I had never heard of them, but found many recipes for them here, including this great recipe. These were excellent, in my opinion. My ideal dessert - I ate half the pan in a blink of the eye! If you don't care for sweet, rich, heavy treats, these may not be for you. Kind of taste like a buttery, dense and chewy chocolate chip cookie minus the chocolate chips. I had to put my baby to sleep, so I set the timer for 25 minutes and had my husband take them out. Had I been there to check them, I would have baked them a bit longer...although I generally like things not-quite-baked-enough, these are rich and chewy enough that underbaking isn't necessary to acheive that texture. A must try!

Soft Oatmeal Cookies

Makes an excellent oatmeal raisin cookie! I think that my search is over - I'll happily make these again and again. Note: I remove my cookies from the oven the second that they look just baked enough, and even I had to bake these much longer than the 8-10 minutes stated.

Taqueria Style Tacos - Carne Asada

Five stars for the marinade - we didn't use the relish or salsa recipes. My husband really enjoyed this, and we're looking forward to trying it again and again and varying different ingredients to best suite our tastes. Really great as is, though! Oh - my husband grilled our flank steak, and it was perfect...I think that we'll stick with grilling it.

Iced Pumpkin Cookies

I did make a number of small changes, but have no doubt that the original recipe was just as yummy! We really enjoyed these, and they kept well for a couple of days before losing their freshness a bit. As far as changes, I halved the nutmeg and cloves (really don't care for too much spice), and I really felt like it was still plenty fall-spicy. I cut the white sugar to one cup, and added 1/2 c. brown sugar. I also added a little cinnamon to the icing as other reviewers suggested, which looked nice. I drizzled the icing over the cookies, then dipped a few so that the entire top was covered. In my opinion, you really only need to drizzle it - the cookies are great alone, and the drizzling adds a nice sweet touch. The ones that were covered were almost too sweet. Also, you really only need a half batch of icing. I had tons left! Lastly, I used a cookie scoop to drop balls of dough onto the sheets, and didn't flatten them at all. They definitely flattened a bit from their ball shape in the oven, and turned out beautifully. I guess everyone's experiences are different! Great recipe, can't wait to make them again!
