Chewy Chocolate Chip Oatmeal Cookies

Reviewed: Apr. 13, 2014
A pretty good oatmeal cookie as written. Much better with the modifications mentioned by most reviewers.

Chicken Pot Pie IX

Reviewed: Dec. 10, 2011
Really, really yummy! I made some modifications based on the reviews. I boiled the veggies in chicken broth instead of the water, doubled the sauce and replaced the celery seed with garlic. I used frozen mixed veggies instead of the carrots and peas and added one chopped potato. I also used Grands Flaky biscuits instead of the pie crust since that's what I had on hand. They worked well, but next time I'll try the pie crust. Kids gave this one a big thumbs up!

Spicy Slow Cooker Black Bean Soup

Reviewed: Jan. 19, 2011
Great recipe. Didn't change a thing. It was a little spicy for my teens, but adding a little sour cream and cheese took away some of the bite of the jalapeno. Served it with a sourdough French baguette (kind of like at Panera Bread). Delicious!

Jamie's Minestrone

Reviewed: Dec. 11, 2010
So, so, SOOO good! I made minor changes after reading the reviews. Used all chicken broth instead of water and substituted petite diced tomatoes for some of the tomato sauce. Absolutely wonderful! Served it with a loaf of crusty French bread.

Corn Dog Casserole

Reviewed: Jul. 5, 2010
This was okay. My kids liked it more than I did. After reading the reviews here I cut the amount of cornbread mix in half (used the Corn Bread Mix recipe from this site), and there was still a LOT of cornbread. I left the shortening out of the mix recipe and added 1/4 cup of sour cream. I left out the celery, sage and black pepper, since this seemed like it would taste too much like Thanksgiving dressing and have no resemblance to corn dogs. I did chop some onion and sauted it with the hot dogs along with a little garlic. If I make this again, I think I might add a little cayenne pepper or chipotle seasoning to add a little kick.

Apple Crisp IV

Reviewed: Jun. 16, 2010
I served this to a hungry group of high school kids, and of the three desserts available, this one had the most left. It tasted okay, but it just didn't look appetizing. The topping was not quite the texture I expected it to be.

Shepherd's Pie VI

Reviewed: Mar. 10, 2010
Big, big hit with my teens! After reading many of the reviews here, I subbed water and a packet of brown gravy mix for the broth and added Worchestershire sauce. I also used frozen mixed veggies instead of the mashed carrots. Thanks for a great recipe!

Brown Sugar Smokies

Reviewed: Feb. 8, 2010
Served these at my Super Bowl party, and they were scarfed up in minutes! I followed another reviewer's advice and cooked the wrapped smokies in the microwave for about a minute and a half before baking to cut back on some of the grease. After microwaving I placed them in a shallow dish and covered them very liberally with brown sugar and baked for 30 minutes. These will definitely be on the list for upcoming parties. Thanks for a great recipe!

Sweet and Spicy Picante Chicken

Reviewed: Jan. 20, 2010
I've seen this recipe before, called "Texas Two-Step Chicken." I've made it many times, and my kids always love it. My suggestion is to place the chicken in a crock pot, mix the sauce ingredients, pour over the chicken and cook on low for 4-6 hours. Yummy!

Zesty Slow Cooker Chicken Barbecue

Reviewed: Jan. 11, 2010
My kids beg me to make this! We usually use it as a topping for baked potatoes, but we have also made sandwiches with it. Great either way!

The Best Double Chocolate Chip Cookie

Reviewed: Dec. 17, 2009
Excellent cookie! Just the slightest crispy on the outside, soft and chewy on the inside...perfect! I used half margarine and half butter, a heaping 1/3 cup of cocoa and added a half teaspoon of cinnamon as another reviewer suggested. Positively delicious!

Yummy Pork Chops

Reviewed: Aug. 25, 2009
This was okay. Only used half the dressing and soy sauce called for and had plenty. The whole recipe would have had the meat swimming in sauce. The dressing was a little overpowering. I used Kraft Zesty Italian since I had it on hand so maybe regular Italian would have worked better.

Delicious Black Bean Burritos

Reviewed: May 14, 2009
This is good, but better with some of the previous suggestions. I added grilled chicken, corn, grated Mexican blend cheese and drained Rotel tomatoes. I served it with cilantro lime rice. It was okay as leftovers the next day for lunch, but it was better fresh.

Pepperoncini Beef

Reviewed: Apr. 22, 2009
As is, I give this one four stars. It's very good but needs onions either cooked in with the meat and peppers or grilled and added on before broiling. We didn't find the pepperoncinis to be too hot at all. They really give the meat a nice flavor.

Authentic Louisiana Red Beans and Rice

Reviewed: Feb. 26, 2009
Great recipe! I followed the advice of several of the reviewers and used chicken broth for some of the water and replaced the thyme and sage with oregano. I also added a teaspoon of sea salt. I soaked the beans overnight and then put everything except the sausage and rice in a crock pot and cooked on high for six hours. I didn't saute the vegetables first, just left out the oil and added them right in with the beans. I added the sausage and cooked for an additional half hour while I cooked the rice. It was just spicy enough for me and not too spicy for my kids. Thanks for a keeper!

Easy Chocolate Bundt Cake Glaze

Reviewed: Oct. 3, 2008
Very easy and very rich. I think this one would be great to use with white chocolate or peanut butter chips...maybe chocolate mint, too. I used it over the Too Much Chocolate Cake from this site for a large crowd of high school students who loved it. Thanks for a great recipe!

Too Much Chocolate Cake

Reviewed: Oct. 3, 2008
This is possibly the best chocolate cake I've ever made or eaten. Wow! It is so easy to make and so incredibly moist! I made it for a group of 120 high school students and they (and their teachers) couldn't stop talking about it. Instead of using a bundt pan I made it in a 9x13 and used the Easy Chocolate Bundt Cake Glaze from this site. I will be making this cake over and over again!

Poppy Seed Chicken II

One of my family's favorites. The only thing I added was a teaspoon of onion powder to the soup/sour cream mixture.
