Creamy Yogurt Hummus

Reviewed: Jun. 29, 2011
I make my own hummus about once a week. Was a little concerned about the proportion of liquid to the beans so I used one can beans, 2 cloves garlic, 1/4 C lemon juice, 1/4 C non fat yogurt and added 1 tsp cumin, a few dashes of paprika. I thought it was quite good and I will probably start using yogurt instead of tahini from now on because it is much lower fat, lower cal and I eat a lot of it. Next time I will try thicker 2% greek yogurt for a more creamy texture. Great idea, thanks for the recipe.

Cream of Asparagus Soup II

Reviewed: Nov. 1, 2009
made this and used veg broth and evaporated milk. i added a bit of turmeric and cayenne at the end to spice it up. my husband really liked it, and finished his bowl. he's not normally a big soup fan. next time i think i will saute some onion and puree part of the asparagus. i will use a little less flour as well...it was a little on the thick side. great basic recipe, thanks for sharing.

Baklava

Reviewed: Aug. 18, 2008
i thought this recipe was perfect. i followed the recipe exactly except used light agave nectar in place of the honey. i thought there was plenty of syrup. the bottom of the baklava was not soggy at all. this is so delicious and pretty. this was my first time working with phyllo--the process does take awhile but when you finally get to eat some, it is just heavenly. i used a nut chopper which saves some time and chops the nuts pretty fine which is good for this recipe.

Gravel Salad

Reviewed: Mar. 10, 2008
mmmm....beans. good recipe but "gravel salad" really doesn't sound appealing. chin chin needs to chill out on the garbanzo bean vs. chickpea terminology. they are both acceptable and interchangeable.

Moist and Chewy Peanut Butter Cookies

Reviewed: Jan. 26, 2008
these are great peanut butter cookies! i used smart balance margarine and regular natural peanut butter and whole wheat flour, egg whites...also added some vanilla. in half the batter, i added some wheat germ and choc chip cookies. also rolled the balls in white sugar before flattening/baking them. all the cookies turned out fabulous and my husband and i really enjoyed them. will use this recipe again. also, i found that these didn't need to be chilled before baking them. texture is perfect.

Too Much Chocolate Cake

Reviewed: Apr. 11, 2007
the only changes i made to this recipe were substituting 1/2 the sour cream with plain yogurt, used 2/3 C oil, and used mini chocolate chips. served this at my husband's birthday and everyone loved it. i am making it again for another birthday celebration and will try a chocolate glaze this time.

Irish Soda Bread I

Reviewed: Apr. 5, 2007
easy to make, but i thought it was a little bland. substituted half the sour cream with yogurt. my husband didn't seem very excited about it either so probably won't make it again.

Muesli

Reviewed: Sep. 22, 2004
my favorite muesli was no longer available after the health food store that carried it went out of business. this was the first recipe i tried and i love it. it's perfect with vanilla soy milk. i use almonds instead of sunflower seeds, and add some flax seeds and natural corn flakes. yummy!
