Beer Bread II

Reviewed: Apr. 22, 2010
This is the ONLY beer bread recipe you should consider! This is AMAZING. I use jalepenos rather than chilies, but same principle. Other than that, follow the recipe. Don't try muffins, either - it's just messy. You'll regret passing this recipe over - trust me!

Mom's Macaroni and Cheese

just ok. Very "Stoggy", as Ramsay would say. Needs a slightly thinner roux as a base, and a bit more cheesy. Loved the topping though!

No Bake Cereal Cookies

Reviewed: Mar. 4, 2010
I've made these twice, and I love them! I ran out of butter (for shame!), so this was one of the few recipes that didn't require butter. I made a bit more "sauce" than the recipe called for the second time, and used a combo of corn syrup and honey, with a pinch of salt and a dash of vanilla and they were gone in 2 days - and it's just me eating them!

Buffalo Chicken Soup

If you like wings, this is a good recipe. I grew tired of it quickly, and found it needed more "chunks of something else" in there to keep it interesting.

Microwave Oven Peanut Brittle

Wow. What else is there to say??? It's so great to be able to use ingredients I already have! The first time I made it, I cooked it a bit too long, and it made the toffee more like the inside of a Crunchie bar, which was also great!

Honey Garlic Vinaigrette

not good. Let it sit overnight, and it still only tasted like oil. Added tons more vinegar and honey, which helped, but still no garlic flavor. It just wasnt' for me.

COOL 'N EASY® Strawberry Pie

Reviewed: Feb. 11, 2010
Fantastic! Made my own crust (see Graham Cracker Crust I - great!), followed advice and added nearly 2 cups of strawberries (frozen, thawed), and it was fantastic! Second time I made it I used light jello, which I do not recommend - tasted more bitter and fake.

Berry Cheesecake Muffins

Reviewed: Nov. 5, 2007
I sorry, but these were not good. I followed the recipe exactly, which I usually don't do, and there were several problems: there was not near enough batter, the batter was flavorless, and the cream cheese layer turned out dry. Hopefully they turn out better for other people.

Pumpkin Cookies I

Really good! I used butter instead of shortening, and reduced the sugar a tiny amount based on some of the reviews. I tried seperate batches of butterscotch and dark chocolate chips, and both were great! Texture of a muffin, light and airy. Rave reviews at the office!

Oatmeal Date Bars

Pretty good! I used this recipe as a lower fat alternative to regular date squares, so as a diet dessert, it was terrific! I used both white and brown Splenda and slightly less butter, and they turned out fantastic.

Chipotle Crusted Pork Tenderloin

FANTASTIC! The smoky, spicy yet sweet flavor made my tastebuds dance!! We ended up using less chipotle powder the second time, as it was a bit spicy. We added paprika in it's place to maintain the smoky flavor. It's a stable in our home now, thanks!

Zesty Turkey Burgers

I didn't feel that the honey mustard pretzels added much flavor, but the burgers were very moist, and we enjoyed them. I'd likely add some dijon to the patty mix if I wanted more mustard flavor. As a side note, though, I did fall in love with just eating the flavored pretzels!

Food for the Gods

BEST THING I HAVE EVER MADE!!!!!!!! This is a direct quote from my ever-picky boyfriend, and I bake a lot! It's as if a date square and a butter tart made sweet, sweet brownie-love. It is to die for!!! If this is for the gods, then I declare myself a goddess!!! Definately stick to the recipe - I tried less butter once, and it wasn't as good. I have used half spenda for the sugar, though, and it worked fine. ENJOY!!!

Chili Chicken Stew

Reviewed: Sep. 28, 2004
Fantastically easy and healthy! Lots of flavor - my family all loved it, and I loved that they were eating their vegetables! I added extra chili powder, and I used canned veggies instead of frozen, and it worked great! I also thickened the broth with cornstarch mixed in about a tbsp of cold water. Freezes ok.
