Best Brownies

Reviewed: Oct. 10, 2004
didn't turn out well, maybe because the pan was too big. wouldn't make it again since it came out more like a cake than a brownie

Apple Dumplings II

Reviewed: Oct. 22, 2004
this is a great recipe! i didn't end up with that much crust so i only put half an apple in the little squares i made. i baked them at 350 until they were lightly golden brown and then reduced the heat to 300 because they were pretty close to the top rack for another 15 minutes.

Asian Chicken Salad

Reviewed: Nov. 2, 2004
i also didn't add the fried noodles to the salad. i added 1/2 tsp of garlic powder to the salad dressing. next time, i'll double the recipe and marinate chicken in the dressing to serve with the salad. otherwise, it was wonderful

Garlic Croutons

Reviewed: Nov. 8, 2004
like the other reviewers, i used 1 tbsp of butter and 3 tbsp of olive oil. I minced the garlic and added salt and pepper (the right amount for your taste) and then i sprinkled a tad bit of garlic powder before putting them into the oven. these were great

Raspberry and Almond Shortbread Thumbprints

Reviewed: Nov. 8, 2004
These were way too sweet for my taste, next time I won't add the frosting from this recipe. Otherwise, it was good--I substituted the almond extract with vanilla extract because my family is not a fan of almond extract.

Popovers

Reviewed: Nov. 9, 2004
This recipe was wonderful, I didn't bake them for quite as long as it said in the recipe. I kept the popovers in the oven for about 15 minutes at 450 or until a nice not too dark golden brown and then for another about 11-13 minutes at 350 degrees or until they look puffed up. Maybe the cooking time was shorter because I filled my muffin pans half way. These tasted great and my family added their favorites (butter and apricot jam) while I added a dash of cinnamon and sugar on mine. So yummy!

I cooked the cranberry sauce the night before and just let it sit in the refrigerator until I was ready to serve it. It was superb!

Homestyle Turkey, the Michigander Way

Reviewed: Nov. 26, 2004
Wonderful, tender, juicy turkey! It took exactly 3 1/2 hours for my 12 lb bird. I marinated the turkey a few hours prior to the cooking time and left it in the refrigerator. Yum!

Blueberry Coffee Cake I

Reviewed: Dec. 25, 2004
This was really good, I didn't have a bundt cake pan on hand so I just used a regular circular pan. I also used cranberries instead of blueberries because that is what my family likes. It was SUPERB! yummmmm

Classic Minestrone

Reviewed: Dec. 27, 2004
This was really good, I used my own vegetable stock and there were already 2 leaks in there, so I didn't use the leeks in this recipe for the minestrone soup. I also added a bay leaf to the soup and just used the leaves of the thyme sprigs. This was terrific!!
