About this Cook
Mom started letting me cook some easy things when I was about 8 years old so I guess I've been cooking for something like 45 years.
My favorite things to cook
I really love cooking "comfort foods" which explains that extra 15 pounds that I don't need to be wearing, haha. But I also grow a nice vegetable garden every year and make use of all those wonderful veggies by grilling, steaming, roasting and eating fresh straight from garden to table.
My favorite family cooking traditions
All of my family cooking traditions center around the holidays and now that Mom is gone, I've pretty much taken over having the family over for holiday feasts.
My cooking triumphs
Mastering pieroghies made from scratch...with three types of filling! My homemade lasagna, sausage stuffing, chicken caccitore, chili, spinach stuffed chicken breasts ,vegetable soup, and cranberry orange relish sre all to die for and I really should go ahead and post those recipes but it seems like there are already some many recipes for those things.
My cooking tragedies
Just about every dinner I made for my first husband for the first 6 months of marriage at the ripe old age of 18!

Chicken Florentine Rice Casserole
Very, very good Christopher! Like the others who reviewed this recipe, I ended up making just a few changes to it. I diced the chicken before I sauteed it, used regular brown rice cooked with chicken broth, added sliced mushrooms and since I didn't have any marjoram, I decided to add allspice intead. Allspice really added that little extra something something that you can't quite make out, but it tastes wonderful........next time, I might add a little nutmeg instead and give it a Greek flair. This recipe is definitely a keeper that I will make again and again!

Sophie's Zucchini Bread
I made the recipe as directed, but I also added a teaspoon of Allspice to the batter. I will never make any other zucchini bread recipe because this one is perfect! 4 years later and I want everyone to know that this is the only zucchini recipe I will will ever use! We like our zucchini bread spicy, so I always add extra spice to it, but that is the only change I made and now, every year at about this time, the people where I work and where my husband works start asking when I'm going to make it for them again! Let the anticipation build! Haha! A million thank-you's to Sophie!!!!
