Yep. My mom used to make this. Fast, simple, inexpensive for a family, and fills you up. Plus, it's a great comfort food!

I add several slices of American cheese to melt in the sauce (it really makes all the difference).

Grandma's Ground Beef Casserole

Reviewed: May 2, 2015
I've been sick with pneumonia all week, so I haven't been to the store -or even outside. I made it from what I had on hand. I used sour cream, cream cheese, and grated parmesan with some Italian seasoning. Grated parmesan on top. This was actually very good and I'll make it again.

Janet's Rich Banana Bread

Reviewed: Feb. 21, 2015
Made it exactly as instructed (except pecans instead of walnuts), and it was as close to a perfect loaf of banana bread as I've EVER had. I've tried several different recipes over the years, as it's my husband's favorite, but none come close to this one. Simple, but perfect.

Tuna Noodle Casserole from Scratch

Reviewed: Nov. 28, 2014
I made this recipe the day after Thanksgiving - using turkey instead of tuna of course. Really easy and very tasty. I used one cup of heavy cream and a cup and a half of milk with plenty of butter (I wanted it creamy and rich). I used some poultry seasoning with the butter, garlic, onions, mushrooms, celery, and peas. I also put a bit of cheddar cheese in the bechamel sauce and instead, used buttered Panko crumbs on top.

Creamy Au Gratin Potatoes

Reviewed: May 25, 2014
This is a great simple recipe that anyone can make. It's the perfect accompaniment to all kinds of meat. I do occasionally switch it up a bit with green onions or different cheeses - and sometimes dill, which brings out the flavors of the cheese and onion. Of course, bacon or ham is fabulous too - just chop and cook it before.

Boiled Chicken

Reviewed: Jan. 26, 2014
I do onion, celery, carrot, salt, pepper, rosemary, and garlic. Strain the broth and keep for chicken and rice or any other chicken recipe. I put the broth in an ice cube tray and then (when frozen) into a gallon-size Zip-Lock bag in the freezer for easy portioning.

World's Best Pasta Sauce!

Reviewed: Jan. 12, 2014
This really is my favorite. I make a double batch and freeze with Seal-a-Meal so I can just pop the bag in some simmering water for quick meals. Don't leave out the fennel seeds - they add so much flavor. Also a great lasagna sauce. Definitely restaurant quality.

Very good. No frosting. Made exactly as recipe calls for, but used cocoa to dust pan. Did add walnuts. Excellent results with on-hand ingredients.

Granny's White Bread

Reviewed: Jan. 12, 2014
This bread came out perfectly. It's exactly right. The only thing I did was use half and half (I had no milk) and I did an egg wash. Fluffy, light and a beautiful texture. Perfect sandwich bread. FANTASTIC with butter and jam!

Ninety Minute Cinnamon Rolls

Reviewed: Dec. 7, 2013
Very easy and fast! I made them just as described - in an extra-large muffin tin. I did use half and half instead of milk because I had it on hand. I had some leftover cream cheese frosting from some cupcakes made earlier in the week. This is a fantastic recipe.

Classic CRISCO® Pie Crust

Reviewed: Oct. 20, 2013
This is the pie crust my mother always used - and her mother too. The trick is to always use Crisco, and not some other brand and to use ice water. You will definitely need more water than the recipe calls for, but you know it's enough when you can form a ball. Roll it out on a floured counter or board and roll it over the rolling pin to place in the pin pan. It has an excellent flaky texture with minimal shrinkage. Sometimes I replace some of the Crisco with butter (not margarine) for a different taste.
