Deer Poppers

Reviewed: Nov. 27, 2006
I was looking for a new way to cook venison as an appetizer, this was a winner! Have made it for 2 different gatherings and both times they were gobbled up in a matter of minutes. I also used with elk and made some with bell peppers for those who were worried about the heat of the jalepenos. Both were delicious - thank you so much for the great recipe, I'll make these again and again!

Crab-Stuffed Filet Mignon with Whiskey Peppercorn Sauce

Reviewed: Feb. 15, 2006
After reading other reviews - decided to skip the crab stuffing. Prepared sauce exactly as directed - poured over grilled ribeye steaks - was fantastic. Didn't want to miss out on the bacon -so fried bacon and crumbled into sauce w/sauteed mushrooms - was a huge hit with my husband - who normally doesn't want any sauce on his steak. Definitely a keeper!

Pork Tenderloin with Mustard Sauce

Reviewed: Jul. 7, 2007
First time cooking pork tenderloin, but not the last! This was so easy, great flavor. Didn't need a knife as pork was very juicy and tender - my picky husband loved it. The mustard sauce was great too - added a kick. Followed recipe exactly - wouldn't change a thing. Will definitely make this again!

The Ultimate Chili

Reviewed: Feb. 15, 2006
Great recipe! I added a chopped onion to the ground meat. Also added a can of diced mild green chilis. Made for a superbowl party - and everyone asked for the recipe. Topped with grated cheddar, the best! Make a day ahead, tastes even better.

Zucchini Coconut Loaf

Reviewed: Jul. 9, 2007
Great taste - loved the coconut and dried cranberries. I ran out of sugar, only used half of what recipe called for and was sweet enough for me. Also used 1/2 oil and 1/2 applesauce, a little dry - but I may have overcooked it a bit - great recipe, thank you!

Parmesan Chicken II

Reviewed: Jun. 1, 2007
This was so quick to prepare and so so good! I used chicken thighs, and sprinkled slivered almonds on top. The chicken browned up nicely and was very moist inside. My husband, who is hard to impress, said 'this is a keeper' - which is his highest rating. Will definitely make this again and again. Thanks so much for a great and simple recipe!

Vegetarian Meatloaf with Vegetables

Reviewed: Mar. 27, 2007
I'm not a vegetarian, but was looking for a lower calorie and healthier alternative to meatloaf - this was great! I loved the sage, would probably try the sausage style meat substitute next time as someone else suggested. Great meat texture and flavor. This receipe should satisfy anyone who is craving meatloaf - thank you for the great recipe!

Coconut Shrimp I

Reviewed: Feb. 8, 2007
The prep work was easy-just time intensive. I don't know how hot the oil was in my frying pan- but I had a problem with them turning black/burning almost immediately. Turned down the heat and the second batch was done in just one minute. I'd definitely make again, but lower the heat (a thermometer might help!)- very yummy! Didn't try the sauce, they were good on their own. thanks for the recipe!

Sauteed Portobellos and Spinach

Reviewed: Nov. 2, 2006
Excellent - yum! Very easy and quick. I did use fresh spinach. 1/2 butter and 1/2 olive oil instead of all butter. Had white wine on hand - came out great! Thank you so much - a winner!

Broiled Tilapia Parmesan

Fantastic and so easy. No prepping, really quick to make - followed the recipe exactly as is. Perfect. My very picky husband who doesn't eat fish loved it too - thank you so much, I'll make this again and again! Went great with the spinach saute receipe w/portobello mushrooms -also on this site.

Chocolate Cobbler

Reviewed: Jul. 7, 2007
I'm giving this the highest rating because my husband, who is a chocoholic, loved it. I took other reviewers advice, used regular flour and added 1.5 tsp of baking powder. Used one cup boiling water. Really odd looking before you bake, but don't worry - came out great. Brownie like on top, then gooey chocolate sauce on the bottom - was great over ice cream. Will make again!

Szechwan Shrimp

Reviewed: Mar. 28, 2007
Yum! I wouldn't change a thing with the sauce - it's perfect. I did add some other veggies, celery, white onion and edamame. I also started with raw shrimp -cooked that first and set aside. Then sauteed veggies for a minute, doubled the sauce -then added shrimp back in for another minute. This is easy and quick to make - I served it over brown rice, no leftovers - would definitely make this again!

Slow Cooker Venison Roast

Reviewed: Feb. 8, 2007
I was really disappointed with this recipe - after reading all the rave reviews I was excited to try this out on my 'hunter' husband. We cook with venison and elk quite a bit. It was easy to prepare, but after cooking so long - I think it ruined a perfectly good cut of meat. The sauce was not that great either. We both love venison and elk - might be a good use for stew meat - but not a good roast (unless you are trying to completely mask the flavor of the meat?). sorry!
