Whipped Shortbread Cookies

Reviewed: Nov. 19, 2011
Wow! These are awesome! I didnt change anything except that we used colored sugar to decorate as I had no cherries. Definately the key was in the whipping. I whipped the butter first for about 3 or 4 minutes then slowly added the icing sugar over the course of a minute and whipped that for about 3 minutes. Then added flour a half cup at a time taking at least 3 min for each half then whipped for about another 4 or 5 minutes and wow...they are fantastic! I used a piping bag and made very small cookies about the size of a Canadian Toonie and because they were so small they needed only about 8 minutes in oven to get golden. First batch I over cooked slightly and they are still amazing! Thanks, this is a keeper!

Melt-In-Your-Mouth Short Ribs

Reviewed: Jul. 13, 2010
I had to change it somewhat but the concept was wonderful. The grocery store had no short ribs so I settled with stewing beef. They also did not have the condensed soup that the recipe called for so I used a can of Campbells Cream of Mushroom and 1/2 package dry onion soup mix. Used all the rest of ingredients as listed in recipe. Cooked for 5 hrs on high and served over egg noodles. Was VERY tasty. Will make again.

Mom's Secret Recipe Beef Stew

Reviewed: Jul. 5, 2010
Made this last night and my family LOVED it...I however think I will cut down on the stewed tomatoes by about 8 oz and increase the broth as I found it a bit too much tomato for a stew (hopefully my husband doesnt notice :) ) Also I added celery and to the flour I added Montreal Steak Spice for some extra flavor. Will definately be making again and will add fresh mushrooms next time as well (with the little adjustment).

Fluffy Pancakes

Reviewed: Jan. 1, 2007
Very good, everyone loved it. I used Golden Crisco in place of shortening and a splash of vanilla. Also noted to expect a very thick batter. I didnt think it would turn out but they were great, very fluffy. Would make again.

Chocolate Zucchini Cookies

Reviewed: Oct. 7, 2006
I used 2 cup zuchinni, 1/2 cup butter, and 2 1/8 cup flour like a previous reader suggested and they were AMAZING! HOWEVER!, I highly recommend using the fine grate on your grater, I used the regular size and it didnt look appetizing. I told my daughter it was apple shreds or else she wouldnt have tried it and she love it. I have left over frozen shredded zucchinni that i wil put in my chopper to make small for the next batch. These will be a regular cookie for us. Thank you!

Stuffed Mushrooms I

Reviewed: Apr. 8, 2006
This is an easy recipe if you like things on the bland side. I made this twice, first time by the recipe and it was rather dry and tasteless. The second time I omitted the garlic salt and used fresh garlic and salt and pepper. Then a dash of parsley, about a Tbsp+ of mayo, 1/4 cup shredded parmesan, ALL of the mushroom stems minced up, and about 1 Tbsp lemon juice and with all the additions it increases the size of recipe so you need more mushrooms. Now the next time I make it I will try doing just what I said but will omit the parmesan and increase the crab. Nevertheless now its a great recipe!! thanks for the base you offered to start with but definately needs a kick.

Mexican Layered Dip

Reviewed: Mar. 3, 2006
It was ok, I used lite sour cream and the left over turned very watery by the next morning. Next time would use reg sour cream. Also, wont use a whole pkg of taco mixnext time. It was wayyyy to strong and we like spicy foods. Will try again and I'm sure that will be more than 3 *'s.

Parmesan Spinach Balls

Reviewed: Dec. 31, 2004
AWESOME! Made it for a staff party and gave out the recipe to everyone! I did add a heaping tbsp of chopped garlic though for an extra kick and used a regular 'seasoned' stuffing mix rather than Italian and threw in a dash of Italian seasoning. Froze excellant too! Thanks for the great recipe. Am making it again for tonites New Years party by request!

Mediterranean Lemon Chicken

Reviewed: Nov. 14, 2004
My husband loved it. I used a whole cut up chicken and I think using just the legs and thighs would have been best. They turned out better than the breast and back.

Buttery Cooked Carrots

They were nice for a change but definetly not something to make every time carrots are on the menu. My family didnt rave about them. Very easy prep though!

Krazy Garlic Trout

It was okay. It was quite lemony. I think I just prefer fish to be prepared anyway except baked.

French Toast I

Reviewed: Nov. 14, 2004
I just made it and found it to be an ordinary recipe. I added a couple pinches of sugar. Maybe would have been better served with whipped cream and berries. Overall it was okay. May use the recipe again, not sure.

Autumn Cheesecake

Reviewed: Oct. 24, 2004
This was FANTASTIC!! Great for fall and would make a great Christmas season desert as well. I made it as 1 1/2 recipe in the 9" springform pan and used light cream cheese for a lower fat version. I will definitely be keeping this one!

Apple Crisp II

Reviewed: Sep. 25, 2004
Wow! That was great! It wasn't too crispy and yet it was by no means soggy! The only thing I may do differently next time is to use a smaller pan. I thought it was a bit thin in the 9x13 and I like a bit thicker crust. Also, after I covered the bottom with apples, I sprinkled the apples a little with cinnamon before putting on the saucepan mixture. AWESOME, will definetly be making this again.
