Orange Cake

Reviewed: Apr. 15, 2011
Well, I took everyone's advice and used orange extract and I'm not sure if that's what did it but I didn't think this was all that great. It wasn't bad but it is a bit too sweet and has a bitter undertone. Not a 5 star recipe and I won't be making it again.

Sean's Falafel and Cucumber Sauce

Reviewed: Jul. 26, 2010
fantastic, just add the bread crumbs a bit at a time until you can make patties/balls out of the batter and it holds. I doubled the recipe, used one onion instead of two and it turned out great. My husband begrudgingly tried them and came back for THIRDS!

Fried Broccoli

Reviewed: Apr. 20, 2009
This is good! I ate this at the Franciscan on Fisherman's Wharf in San Francisco and it's a great spin on cooking broccoli. When I made it at home I just used olive oil, black pepper, and sea salt. If your going to rate broccoli 1-5 it's a 5.

Vegan Brownies

Reviewed: Nov. 14, 2007
I'm sorry but I don't know how this got 5 stars but I will say that I doubled the recipe and used 1 1/2 c splenda and 2 1/2 c sugar so maybe that was what ruined it. They were edible but kinda synthetic in taste and texture...the closest thing I can compare it to are those Little Debbie brownies.

Brown Sugar Meatloaf

Reviewed: Sep. 7, 2006
This is a very good meatloaf recipe, I added a packet of onion soup mix as well. It's five stars as far as meatloaf goes but meatloaf isn't really a five star dinner:) Good combination of flavors.

Zucchini Patties

Reviewed: Aug. 22, 2006
This recipe has to be played with a lot. Spices are a must. I added a bunch of garlic, pepper and paprika. I did drain the zucchini but still had to use more bread crumbs and flour than the recipe called for. Eventually it ended up being pretty good with sour cream on top. I felt the italian bread crumbs left a funny aftertaste, next time I'll try flour and instant mashed potatoes like one person suggested. You have to make them small so they'll flip without falling apart (in a non stick skillet), I used cooking spray instead of oil and that worked just fine.

Lover's Beef Burgundy Filet

Reviewed: Aug. 21, 2006
Very good, I overmarinated it the first time and left the filets in overnight and they absorbed too much of the wine and didn't taste like steak at all anymore. I've since used it on several different cuts of steak and marinated it only 5 hours and they turned out terrific. Family requests it now and even my picky 8 year old loved it.

Asparagus and Tomato Salad with Yogurt-Cheese Dressing

Reviewed: Aug. 21, 2006
Very disappointing, the ingredients just don't mix well together. Sour and peppery.

Angel Chicken Pasta

Reviewed: Apr. 10, 2006
Very good dish and relatively simple to make. Served to dinner guests who loved it! I will make this again but I did double the recipe for the sauce. The sauce is thick and rich like alfredo so I think I'll use linguine noodles instead. Tastes similar to chicken marsala because of the wine.

Strawberry Pretzel Pie

Reviewed: Sep. 25, 2004
I could live off this. I also cut down on the butter and sugar and it still turns out great. Vastly different textures and flavors (salty/sweet/sour)makes it really unique but so simple. Fun and easy recipe to make with my six year old who likes to crush the pretzels in a freezer bag by stomping on them.
