About this Cook
I recently moved to the south and I love it! I'm trying out new southern recipes and I secretly LOVE Paula Dean although she will kill us all with butter!
My favorite things to cook
anything with fresh vegetables
My favorite family cooking traditions
Thanksgiving and Christmas is always a combined effort of all the family, well, all the women at least
My cooking triumphs
My husband will tell you that I have mastered jambalaya and chicken pot pie.
My cooking tragedies
I've screwed up lasagna a dozen times. I finally have got it down...I think. I made chicken cordon bleu and held each piece together with a dozen toothpicks then forgot to take them out. My dad poked his throat when he ate one, or so he claimed. I was totally disappointed in myself! Now I won't touch the recipe, I feel like it betrayed me or something hahaah

Orange Cake
Well, I took everyone's advice and used orange extract and I'm not sure if that's what did it but I didn't think this was all that great. It wasn't bad but it is a bit too sweet and has a bitter undertone. Not a 5 star recipe and I won't be making it again.

Sean's Falafel and Cucumber Sauce
fantastic, just add the bread crumbs a bit at a time until you can make patties/balls out of the batter and it holds. I doubled the recipe, used one onion instead of two and it turned out great. My husband begrudgingly tried them and came back for THIRDS!

Fried Broccoli
This is good! I ate this at the Franciscan on Fisherman's Wharf in San Francisco and it's a great spin on cooking broccoli. When I made it at home I just used olive oil, black pepper, and sea salt. If your going to rate broccoli 1-5 it's a 5.
