Sweet Vanilla Cupcakes

Reviewed: Mar. 21, 2013
I use these as a base to all my vanilla type cupcakes. Very nice taste and haven't failed me yet. I have also added fruit, choco chips and lemon zest to these to make a lot of different variations.

Lemon Poppy Seed Loaf

Reviewed: Mar. 21, 2013
5 stars for this lovely loaf. Tasty, moist and just lemony enough for my tastes. I did change the poppy seeds to only a couple of tsp because my kids aren't too fond of them and I used lemon yogurt on the second batch as I ran out of plain. Still, excellent either way.

Bannock

Reviewed: Mar. 13, 2013
Good recipe although I don't use the butter. We have this often. Sometimes we add a little sugar and fresh berries or stuff it with fried ground beef and gravy and fry them in the pan. You can add Italian seasoning, garlic, rosemary and so much more. Also the kids like it when we roll it in sugar and cinnamon and eat them warm. We also always take it camping and make up as much as we need to go with dinner or lunch. Very versatile.

Butter Flaky Pie Crust

Reviewed: Mar. 11, 2013
Perfect for sweet pies and for meat pies. I used to use my mom's flaky crust recipe but it had so many steps. I like this one for the simplicity and it tastes great. Even my husband can make it!

Good Old Fashioned Pancakes

Reviewed: Oct. 20, 2012
Great taste, cooked up nice and fluffy. I cut down on the salt only because I never use as much salt as called for in recipes. Highly recommend to anyone who loves the old fashioned taste of pancakes with out all the the processed box stuff.

Morning Glory Muffins II

Reviewed: Oct. 15, 2012
Excellent taste and texture. Made 1 batch exactly as written and the next batch I added craisins instead of dates and bran instead of carrots and still terrific. Thanks for such a great recipe!

Corn Muffins

Reviewed: Oct. 8, 2012
Just brought them out of the oven and they are fantastic! Not dry at all and with a superb taste. I recommend these to anyone who wants a nice cornbread muffin that is a little on the sweeter side, which I prefer. I am sure you can adjust the sugar to make it more versatile though. Perfection!

Mariu's Spaghetti with Meat Sauce

Reviewed: Sep. 22, 2012
Just started making my meat sauce like this. I too have always found spaghetti sauce to be very acidic and usually shied away from it as I suffered all night from it. But this sauce is excellent! I only use 1 can of beef consume and I add some ricotta to it before it's served. Very tasty indeed!

Homemade Mac and Cheese

Reviewed: Apr. 11, 2012
Excellent, although I don't like Parm cheese so I don't use it. But I didn't even miss it. The thing about mac and cheese is that it is mac and cheese...simple... People expect it to be some way over the top recipe that explodes with this and that flavour, but it is simply a nice, heart warming, homey recipe that warms your tummy. Kudos for not adding so much stuff that it overwhelms the whole mac and cheese aspect!

Easy Indian Butter Chicken

Reviewed: Aug. 28, 2011
Excellent! I also make a non Indian version since my husband does not like garam marsala. I simply omit the garam marsala and tandoori and and add paprika and tumeric instead. Works for him and he raves about it!

Chewy Strawberry Oatmeal Cookie Crumble

Very very sorry I tried these. Made them in a small cookie pan, took forever to cook since they were too thick I guess. Sorry but I just don't think this is good.

Sweeter Muffins

Reviewed: May 30, 2011
Very good, tried and true recipe that I use quite often! Not overly sweet at all and good basic recipe for additions. Sometimes I add 1/2 cup raspberry flavoured apple sauce instead of milk. Also have added choco chips, blueberries and crushed pineapple for different flavours. They are great with chili and corn chowder as well, with a little less sugar. Pretty much fool proof.

Excellent! Very tasty and quite easy to cook, even though I thought it would be harder in the grease to tell if they were done or not.

Slow Cooker Pepper Steak

Reviewed: May 17, 2011
Quite good and tasty! I have made this a few times and I have added other things to mix it up on occasion. Try sweeter peppers. Minced garlic - a couple of cloves or more depending on your taste. Red onion added is also tasty too. This is def worth a try!
