About this Cook
I'm the daughter of a professional chef and a gourmet cook. Cooking for me wasn't just a hobby, it was sort of a requirement. Both of my parents were very supportive of my kitchen experimentation and great sports when it came time to be my guinea pigs.
My favorite things to cook
Being half Italian, pastas are a huge must in my house. I also enjoy seeing what new and interesting things I can do with chicken and ground beef.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Every year for our birthday my parents let my brother and I decide what was going to be made for dinner with the cake of our choice for dessert. It was a big thing for us cause it was the one day we could overrule our parents' decisions. I'm passing it on to my children.
My cooking triumphs
When I was 10 my Christmas wish was to make dinner so my dad supervised but allowed me to do 90% of the cooking (Dad made all the desserts). I fed my family and a family of four who were friends of ours. A couple of years later, our friend's husband was in an accident and developed amnesia. One of the first things he remembered was my Christmas dinner as the best dinner he'd had in his life.
My cooking tragedies
When I was six or seven my brother and I attempted to make homemade eggnog based solely on taste alone. We discovered really quickly why it's a really bad idea to eat (or drink, in this case) raw eggs.

Tuna Broccoli Roll Up Casserole
My family and I absolutely LOVED this meal and it's hard to find things my very picky daughter will happily sit at the table for. Now that I've tried it 'by the book' I'll be having fun experimenting!

Fried Cornmeal Mush
Cornmeal mush porridge has always been a special treat for me. Fried mush even more so. Some bacon and eggs on the side, a little sorghum molasses or honey and it's a great breakfast!
