I've cooked nearly everything my wife and I have eaten at home for the last 15'ish years on the grill. gas, charcoal, off-set smoker, and 2 ceramic grills sit in my heated detached garage for year round grilling.
My favorite things to cook
anything smoked! slow smoking is my fave. ribs, brisket, whole hogs, anything that takes several hours. it's therapeutic for me somehow.
My favorite family cooking traditions
I've been assigned the duty of smoking our families Thanksgiving turkey on my big green egg. also, for birthday gatherings I have been known to have 4 grills going at the same time...one for the appetizer, main course, side, and dessert.
My cooking triumphs
225 lb. whole hog in 10 hours using a friends roaster. I've done a few and it never gets old! my first successful brisket,(they were my nemesis for a long time). learning how to make a steak at home that's better than the ones you get from the "texas" places.
My cooking tragedies
as in said in my triumphs, briskets got the better of me for a long time. my early ones went to the slow cooker for salvage. I put brats on the grill once and forgot about them long enough to make bun length charcoal briquettes.
