I have been married to my best friend for 25 years. We have 6 children between us, and 6 grand kids so far. I am retired, enjoy knitting, embroidery, and sewing. We have an 8# toy poodle that we spoil and haul along with us. Now that we moved closer to grand kids, we realize this was a great idea! Being an older woman in this day and age is exciting, but not for the faint of heart.
My favorite things to cook
Probably my favorite things to make are cookies and breakfast stratas. I like to cook but menus are getting more tedious to think up. We enjoy soups in the cold weather. I like to use my slow cooker for easy meals.
My favorite family cooking traditions
My mother and her mother were wonderful cooks, and they inspired me to be willing to be adventurous in cooking. My mother canned her own mincemeat, and it was a spiritual experience eating those pies! I still have one can left that she did nearly 20 years ago, and I don't know if I will ever decant it.
My cooking triumphs
I have learned to make traditional English Christmas Pudding, and my hubby and son-in-law love it!
My cooking tragedies
I love spices, but I have found out recently that lime, chili sauce and wassabe in one meal was too much for my stomach. Wonderful taste, miserable night!
Also, long ago I cut up a cucumber that had been given to us & put it in our vegetable soup. We burped for days & I will never make that mistake again!
