About this Cook
I am a young newlywed and am going through the process of experimenting with many different recipes to find dishes both my husband and I can enjoy! Food-wise I come from a very gourmet background and I learned a lot from my dad by watching him cook growing up. My husband on the other hand is used to very basic comfort foods, ie: hamburger gravy, steak, potatoes. :-D So it's definitely a challenge to combine the two, although I am finding some great recipes here that have satisfied both of us!
My favorite things to cook
We cook a lot of chicken and pasta. I am always looking for ways to give some flare to chicken breasts or make a scrumptious new italian dish.
My favorite family cooking traditions
My husband and I have yet to make any cooking traditions of our own. But I'm sure we will!
My cooking triumphs
I haven't been cooking long enough to say I've had any "triumphs," but I have made some increasingly yummy homemade spaghetti sauces. I also just learned how to use an outdoor grill, and that's been quite satisfying. :)
My cooking tragedies
For my birthday when I was a teen I attempted to make a super-sized chocolate chip cookie. I simply dumped a great deal of batter all over a cookie sheet and stuck it in the oven. *shudders* Of course, it came out burnt around the edges and soupy in the middle. Gross!

Baby Back Ribs
What a simple, delicious way to prepare ribs. I used to think it could only be done on a grill, and as a young married couple still living in city apartments, grill usage is a no-no. I am so glad I found this recipe, however, because now my husband can have his absolute favorite food every single week! I did add a dry rub to the ribs and marinated them for several hours beforehand, but then followed the recipe as stated. Due to other reviewers' comments and looking at other recipes, I did add extra sauce and broil the ribs for 5 minutes or so on each side to get that "crust" and more desirable appearance. We've already made them twice now! Mmm.

Award Winning Soft Chocolate Chip Cookies
Oh my, these were definitely the best chocolate chip cookies I have tasted (much less made)! I am very impressed. I did cut the recipe in half and added 1/2 tsp. Kosher salt -- other than that I followed it exactly. I used plain ole' vanilla instant pudding, and it was great! I love how the cookies sit up and stay sooo moist. And my husband and I didn't think the amt. of chocolate chips was too much at all (I used a mixture of Ghiradelli milk chocolate and semisweet). Wow, I will definitely be giving these away to people wherever I am required to bring a dessert. Thank you!

Awesome Broccoli-Cheese Casserole
This was a yummy, cheesy casserole and a great way to get my broccoli intake (and fat intake, too!). I halved the recipe as I was only making it for my husband and I in order to try it out, and added a dash of garlic powder and dill to the soup/mayo mixture. I also added a tad more cheese. When I pulled it out of the oven it was quite liquidy in the middle, which concerned me, but after it sat out it firmed right up and tasted great.
