I, too, have been making these cookies since I was a very little girl, and have loved them all my life. I have made variations, adding a half cup of coconut or nuts (cashews and pecans are good and omit the PB) I have also omitted the PB for allergies sake. This is one of those recipes in which I rarely measure, almost always add extra oats; and only bring the mixture to a rolling boil which funny enough, works out to a minute. Guess what I am trying to say is it is hard to mess up this recipe. For those who have had troubles, the only thing I can think of is perhaps altitude?? Anyway, if they don't work for whatever reason, the cooled batter still tastes good.
