Banana Sour Cream Bread

Reviewed: Sep. 26, 2012
My boss made this and it was the best ever. I have been making banana bread for over 40 years and this is the best recipe I have ever tasted. HOWEVER, when I tried to make it at home, I used very overripe (almost liquid) bananas and it did not work out at all. The second time I used bananas with lots of brown spots and it was delish!! If bananas start turning from brown to black, I would not recommend using them.

Out of this World Turkey Brine

Reviewed: Nov. 21, 2009
In response to several less than perfect ratings, a good rule of thumb is to cut salt amount in half if using regular table salt to substitute for Kosher Salt. Kosher Salt is much less "salty" than regular salt. DO NOT use iodized salt for brining. Delicious recipe. Thank you.

Homemade Tomato Juice Cocktail

Reviewed: Nov. 2, 2009
To make a very thick cocktail/juice use 12 ounces quality tomato paste and 4 cups of water using above recipe. This is also very good. Enjoy

Buttermilk Oatmeal Muffins

Reviewed: Nov. 2, 2009
Absolutely DELICIOUS. The second time I made them I added the zest of one orange and 1 cup of cranberries, chopped. With the addition, the muffin was a little 'doughy' while they were warm, I think from the extra moisture, but very, very good after they cooled. Thank you for sharing this wonderful recipe.

Easter Cake

Reviewed: Apr. 8, 2006
This is a "Sunshine Cake" much like an Angel Food Cake. Eggs must be handled very carefully as the perfectly beaten egg whites are what leaven or raise the cake. Cream of tartar is what is added as a "raising agent" in most Angel Food type recipes. When this cake is baked it should have yellow and white alternating areas, like an "Unswirled" marble cake. If you have never made an Angel Food Cake, I would advise you to do some reading about them before attempting this wonderful recipe.

Wonderful cake. I read other reviews about soda taste. Looked up other recipes from friends and ended up switching quantities of baking soda and baking powder. It turned out perfectly. Thank you

Delicious. Makes the house smell wonderful when it is baking. Best served warm or cold. Taste and texture NOT best served right out of oven. I served it with vanilla bean ice cream. My family loved it.

Sour Cream Banana Cake

Reviewed: Apr. 10, 2005
I took this to our weekly Bible Study - Everyone said they wanted it for their birthday cake when the time came. This is my new favorite cake. It is delicious, moist and perfect. Thank you, Margaret. Addition -I have now made this cake about 15 times. Some may find batter thick and "heavy" because they are not sifting the cake flour enough. I sift three times. Also - last time I ran out of brown sugar so used 1 cup brown and 1 cup white. The result was a completely different flavor, also fabulous. A light airy delicious cake. The riper the bananas, the more banana flavor. Again, Margaret, Thank you, thank you
