About this Cook
I'm graduating from college in May and will be attending law school in the fall. I enjoy playing sports (I currently play inside/outside center on my school's club rugby team), good discussion, reading (mainly non-fiction, including girly glossy mags... though I also enjoy The Economist and The Atlantic Monthly).
My favorite things to cook
I love to bake desserts; and I'm a fan of almost anything with cheese in it. I don't eat factory-farmed meat; and I generally eat organic free-range chicken if I stray from my vegetarian tendencies.
My favorite family cooking traditions
The only cooking tradition my family really has is preparing amazingly delicious (though simple) breakfasts for the holidays.
My cooking triumphs
I'm proud of all of the things I make that turn out well, but I do believe my specialty is baking cakes and other sweets. My favorite so far is a triple-layered strawberry cake.
My cooking tragedies
I once tried to alter a recipe for peanut butter brownies after I realized too late that I had fewer eggs than the recipe called for. The brownies never set, and the result was a bitter, oily mess that ended up in the trash.

Lemon Parmesan Spaghetti
I love lemony pasta, so I was excited to try this recipe although I typically don't like creamy sauces. The taste was really great, but I found the sauce to be particularly thick. If I could, I'd rate it a 5 for the taste and a 3 for the texture (hence, the 4 stars).

Famous Butter Chicken
I thought the chicken was good, but not five-star-worthy, when prepared as the recipe is written. The chicken was very moist, but there just wasn't enough flavor for me. I prepared the dish a second time, but I added Italian seasoning, poultry seasoning, minced garlic, and red pepper flakes; and I found the dish to be much more flavorful.

Bird Seed Squares
These were really simple to make, and I didn't find them to be at all crumbly. I also packed them into the pan, so perhaps that's why. I prefer these to the usual no-bake cookies.
