Hot Cocoa Mix in a Jar
About this Cook
I have been a fan of food for as long as I can remember! My mom always involved me and my brother in the kitchen! All of our birthday parties revolved around food, whether it was making our own individual pizzas to creating our own cookies. Because of my love of food, I decided to go into a food related field. I wanted to go to culinary school, but instead I choose to pursue a degree in dietetics. I am now a registered dietitian. In this field you learn a lot about food science and culinary, which is the direction I went. I am currently working in a test kitchen where I test lots and lots of recipes each week. It is the best job that I could have ever imagined! The difficult part is trying to lose and maintain weight!! :)
My favorite things to cook
Because of where I work, I have tried making tons of things. My favorite things to make are yeast breads and candies.
My favorite family cooking traditions
My mom and grandma were wonderful bakers! There were always cookies filling the cookie jar! My family also loves to can and preserve food. My grandparents have a whole room of just canned goods from the summer. I hope to someday have the time and patience for it. Foods that were often served in our households were hearty meat and potato dishes, especially at my grandparents house. We became fans of old world German dishes. Mmmm...sauerbraten, red cabbage and was always a meal to look forward to. We would also make sachertorte with it.
My cooking triumphs
Prior to my job now, many of the big holiday meals intimidated me -- especially the big cuts of meat. But now because of where I work, I am up for anything. I have made many turkeys, lamb, goose and crown roasts. I learned to rely on temperature for doneness, not timing. I always would get the perfect meat.

Hot Cocoa Mix in a Jar
Very good mix. I added more powdered sugar and chocolate drink mix, as other reviewers did. Serve with milk for a much creamer texture. Not too sweet, but has rich flavors. Added a little cinnamon to spice it up.

Annie's Fruit Salsa and Cinnamon Chips
I have been using this recipe since it was first posted. People always tell me to market the cinnamon chips because they are sooo good! My favorite apple to use is granny smith apples. By far, this is my most requested recipe. Very fresh, perfect summertime party food.
