A retired Pastor who married a Native American (also a retired Pastor and disabled Veteran) and we are enjoying life in the Blue Ridge mountains. We both love cooking and baking which works out well with us both being disabled.
My favorite things to cook
I enjoy slow cooker and casserole dishes along with baking. Now I am married to a southern gentleman I am finding myself challenged to make those dishes with as little impact as possible on calories and sugars.
My favorite family cooking traditions
My family as always collaborated on family meals be they casual gatherings or formal celebrations. My Brother was a chef, my Mom did short order and were both influenced by my great grandfather who was once a butcher. Black Fox and I just married on 10-10-10 and so we haven't really established any traditions yet but we are working on them.
My cooking triumphs
The varied meats served at our weddings which were in accordance to traditions of my husband. He prepared the bear as the bride must not handle it. I prepared deer, elk, moose, wild boar and fish. We served almost 200 guests.
My cooking tragedies
When I lived in FL I started a grease fire cooking gator tail for the first time. LOL I can't do fish and I was NOT going to eat it so to me it wasn't a loss... however for those who love it well they were really disappointed.
