Better Than Sex Cake II

Reviewed: Mar. 18, 2005
deeee-licious! I'm allergice to toffee, so I used crushed butterfingers and the result was amazing. Plan to make only enough to serve everyone--this stuff's so rich, few people can eat more than one piece, although it keeps fairly well for a few days. I made a lot of friends taking our leftover cake around a guys' dorm and offering pieces to strangers ;)

Cranberry Swirl Coffee Cake

Reviewed: Dec. 14, 2004
This got rave reviews--I tried to make the cinnamon crumb topping suggested by other readers but accidentally put in 1/3 c melted butter instead of 3 tbsp. It was different (not a crumb topping so much as a solid topping) but very good.

Irresistible Pecan Pie

Reviewed: Dec. 14, 2004
I added a bunch of vanilla (oops--but so glad I did!), some cinnamon, and mixed the pecan halves in a honey and brown sugar mixture before topping and was told it was the best pecan pie my guests had ever eaten!

Supreme Strawberry Topping

Reviewed: Jul. 31, 2004
Perfect on cheesecake and ice cream, but make sure to put the sugar in gradually and taste as you go, cause it can get very sweet or it might not be sweet enough, depending on the ripeness of your fruit. I've used this recipe for raspberries too and think it would probably work for just about any berry. Happy eating!

Rempel Family Meatloaf

Reviewed: Jul. 31, 2004
The best meatloaf I've ever had and the only one I'll ever make. I've never encountered a meatloaf so juicy and flavorful, and neither has anyone I've served it to.

Spiced Applesauce Bread

Reviewed: Jul. 31, 2004
This was a good bread, but I found the nutmeg too strong, and I didn't put in allspice. 60 minutes at 350 left the outside burned and the inside just done, so I think I'll turn it down and cook it longer next time.

Gnocchi I

Reviewed: Jul. 31, 2004
I lived in Italy for 5 months and LOVED gnocchi and was in the depths of despair when I moved back until I found this recipe! It's definitely a commitment (and I used about half the flour to keep my gnocchi light) but sooooo worth it! I actually even liked them better reheated in the microwave, so make extras and eat Italian again tomorrow!

Jay's Signature Pizza Crust

Reviewed: Jul. 31, 2004
Pretty good, but needed flavor, so I kneaded in some pressed garlic, garlic and onion powder, and oregano to spice it up. If you're not using a pizza stone, I wouldn't pre-bake the crust first, as it rises and makes it hard to get the sauce to stay on the crust.

Chicken Pot Pie VIII

Reviewed: Jul. 15, 2004
Oh, MAN! Goooooood stuff! I steamed the carrots and celery first, boiled the potatoes in the broth and then used it for the sauce so it was even thicker and I added some frozen peas and brushed the inside of the bottom crust and the outside of the top crust with beaten egg white to make sure they didn't get soggy. This recipe is going on an index card and into my box, which is high praise.

Joey's Peanut Butter Cookies

Reviewed: Jul. 2, 2004
I thought these cookies were dry and bland but everyone I cooked them for thought they were incredible and wouldn't let me change anything, so I guess my sweet tooth is just out of control :)
