Puppy Chow

Reviewed: Dec. 24, 2006
Good recipe, but you need to add margarine or butter to help make the choc. the right texture. I don't know how you would get it to cover the rice cereal without it. Anyway, this was so good! Very addictive!

Cranberry Sauce Extraordinaire

Reviewed: Nov. 23, 2006
This was fantastic! I took advice from other people to make a few changes. I added a can of mandarin oranges, a pinch of allspice and ginger, and ran it through a food processor when it was finished cooking. Rave reviews from entire family! (Including people who don't normally eat cranberries.) Loved it, loved it, loved it.

Enchilada Casserole II

Reviewed: Jun. 13, 2006
I turned this recipe into a five star rating by making some changes. I left out the tom. paste, added corn, kidney beans, green chilis, and a packet of taco seasoning. I also put a little salsa on top. Very good! I also like the Burrito Pie recipe on this site.

Orzo with Parmesan and Basil

Reviewed: Apr. 12, 2006
Fabulous! This was very flavorful. I used dried basil because I didn't want to pay $3 for fresh. (I'm sure it would have been even better.) I added fresh chopped mushrooms also. Yum-Yum.

Beefy Baked Ravioli

Reviewed: Apr. 4, 2006
This was a quick weeknight meal. We all liked it a lot. I did add some additional spices and a little more sauce on top because it seemed a little dry. I will put this in my recipe box!

Arrabbiata Sauce

Reviewed: Mar. 26, 2006
This was good. I think it would be better with crushed tomatoes instead of diced. I didn't have any fresh herbs, but it still tasted fine (just not quite as fresh/flavorful). I used whole wheat penne and added black olives, green and red bell peppers, and mild italian sausage. My husband loved this, and said it was similar to one of his favorites at a local restaurant.

Stuffed Zucchini I

Reviewed: Mar. 9, 2006
This was pretty average. My husband didn't really like it. He prefers the italian stuffed zucchini with tom. paste, etc. I did add taco seasoning, but it wasn't a recipe I would make again.

Tommy's Ham Casserole

Reviewed: Feb. 5, 2006
I used suggestions from many different people to make this a tasty recipe. I cooked celery, onion, and fresh mushrooms in some marg. and added it to the pasta. I also stirred some seasoned pepper, thyme, garlic, parsley, oregano, and seasoned salt into the veg. while they were cooking. I used a full can of milk and added some lt. sour cream to the soup mixture. For the chz., I used about a cup of mild cheddar and a cup of sharp cheddar (both reduced fat). For the topping, I mixed seasoned breadcrumbs with saltine crackers and about two tablespoons of marg. I also sprinkled a little sharp cheese under the topping. This filled a 9x13 pan. My husband loved this and went back for seconds. I definately recommend making changes to the original recipe to jazz it up, otherwise this would be very bland.

Easy Mexican Casserole

Reviewed: Jan. 26, 2006
Pretty good. I added some chili powder, garlic, and cumin to the meat mixture. I used homemade salsa, and added green chilis to the sour cream. Fresh tomatoes are gross in the wintertime, so I left them off. I put 2/3 of the chips on the bottom, and then 1/3 of them on top of the sour cream. This was tasty, but I thought it was just a little bit dry.

Egg Salad Sandwiches

Reviewed: Jan. 14, 2006
This was good. The only thing I would change is to use onion powder or real onion in place of the flakes. I didn't like the crunchiness. I would make this again. It was a nice change from the usual egg salad.

Restaurant Style Chicken Nachos

Reviewed: Jan. 4, 2006
This was good. I added refried beans to the chicken mixture and also put some black olives and jalepenos on top before baking because I didn't have a tomato. The chips were very crispy. It would be great with sour cream and guacamole, but it would add too many more calories.

Grilled Salmon I

Reviewed: Nov. 27, 2005
Wow! This was fabulous. My husband and I usually don't like Salmon, but I decided to give this a try. I'm so glad I did! I left out the lemon pepper (personal preference) and used a little less oil, but kept everything else the same. The flavor was wonderful! I think some extra marination time would be even better. I broiled it in the toaster oven and poured the extra marinade on top while it was cooking. Yum!

Walter's Chicken and Mac

Reviewed: Nov. 26, 2005
Good recipe. I used suggestions from other people. I did add a little extra milk, spices, onion, and added breadcrumbs to top it off. It would have been very bland without the addition of garlic, seasoned pepper, red pepper flakes, etc. This was a good change from regular mac and cheese. I'm always looking for new ways to cook chicken.

Rempel Family Meatloaf

Reviewed: Nov. 18, 2005
I think this is my first time making meatloaf. I used a mexican cheese blend and seasoned breadcrumbs because that's what I had on hand. My husband and I loved this recipe! It was a little greasy, but not bad. We will make this again!

Sweet and Sour Smoked Sausage

Reviewed: Sep. 13, 2005
This was very good. I used turkey smoked sausage and extra sweet and sour sauce. When I finished cooking it, I thought it looked kind of bland, but I was pleasantly surprised when I tasted it!

Slow Cooker Beef Stroganoff I

Reviewed: Jun. 19, 2005
The grocery store was out of golden mushroom soup, so I had to substitute beefy mushroom soup. We had it on top of egg noodles. I also used light onion and chive cream cheese and added fresh sliced mushrooms at the end. This is by far the best beef stroganoff recipe I've ever made! Thanks for submitting it.

Classy Green Bean Casserole

Reviewed: Jun. 19, 2005
This was a hit with everyone! A nice change fron the usual green bean casserole. The sour cream was a good flavor enhancer. I used light s.c. and lowfat cream of mushroom soup and it was great.

Best Chicken Ever

Reviewed: Jun. 16, 2005
Not bad! I did add a bunch of spices, otherwise it would be too bland. Next time I might take the advice of adding the french onion soup mix. (I read the reviews after it was in the oven!)

Pasta Fagioli Soup II

Reviewed: Jun. 14, 2005
This was wonderful! I used turkey bacon, low sodium chicken broth, and ditali pasta. I don't think the extra salt is necessary, unless you like a very salty soup. My husband loved this recipe. We are trying to eat soup once a week, and this one will be in our rotation. Thanks so much!

Awesome and Easy Creamy Corn Casserole

Reviewed: Mar. 27, 2005
I can see why this got 5 stars! It is amazing and so easy to make. I took it to an Easter get-together and everybody wanted the recipe! I doubled the recipe and used lite sour cream instead of full-fat. I also added green onions for some color like another person had suggested. (Great idea!) My husband thought it was cornbread when he first saw it, but it is creamier on the inside. A doubled recipe filled a 9 x 13 and two-thirds of an 8 x 8 pan. Yummy! Thank You!
