Easy Pizza Sauce III

Reviewed: Nov. 24, 2011
mmm! This pizza sauce is so delicious! Have made it twice now. First time was at my daughter's school - we followed the recipe exactly, but added about 1 tbsp fresh basil in the sauce from the kids' garden. This second time, made it just as the recipe indicated and this pizza sauce is beyond delicious! Combined with the "Master Pizza Dough" recipe for her, fresh mozzarella and the pizza taste so yummy!

Strawberry Cake from Scratch

Reviewed: May 1, 2011
This is an excellent strawberry cake! After carefully reading reviews, I made the following changes: (1) sift the cake flour before you measure it! to do this, put a measuring cup in a bowl, sift the cake flower over the measuring cup - when you get an overflow of sifted flour, take a knife and run it over the cup to be even (do not pack it!) (2) I used fresh strawberries for the strawberry puree. to do this, I used about 6 large strawberries, put it in the food processor with about 1.5 tsps of sugar and blended it up. Was tasty! (3) As per other reviews, separate the egg whites from the egg yolks. I wisked them for a few mins and mixed them just until incorporated at the very end. -- I also used a cream cheese / buttercream icing, and it was so delicious! The cake was fluffy, definitely strawberry and oh-so-yummy!

The Best Rolled Sugar Cookies

Reviewed: Mar. 21, 2011
These are excellent sugar cookies! This has been the recipe that I have used for a very long time.. wouldnt use another recipe! Always use parchment paper.. just makes things easier. I do not leave the dough overnight in the frig as it makes the dough way to hard - I only leave it for about an hour in the frig just to chill it some. I do use extra sugar and vanilla as per another review - up the sugar to 3 cups and vanilla to 2 tsps. I also make this recipe eggless often times (using ENER-G egg substitute) as my daughter has an egg allergy, and the recipe still tastes excellent! Highly recommend this recipe!

Excellent chocolate cake! Made it twice thus far, once using Devils Food chocolate cake mix and the other Chocolate Fudge cake fix, both times the cupcakes turned out delightful! Keeper recipe!

Spinach and Strawberry Salad

Reviewed: Mar. 20, 2011
I didnt care for the dressing with this salad.. used red wine vingerette. But, the hubby was the opposite, he loved the dressing! Made the salad and tossed with the dressing right before serving. Did not refrigerate the dressing based on other reviews. Probably wont make again as its not to my liking.. but the husband really did like it!

Rolled Fondant

Reviewed: Sep. 19, 2010
Excellent fondant! My typical recipe is the Marshmallow Fondant (also found here on Allrecipes), but I had a friend who wanted just regular fondant.. so, I made this recipe. I have made it twice now and both times it turned out wonderfully! I follow the recipe exactly as written.. I do use glucose syrup. I was able to find that and the glycerin at Michaels or Hobby Lobby. I used Wilton clear vanilla extract to ensure my fondant was bright white rather than off white. Excellent recipe and easy to make!

Crazy Cake

Reviewed: Sep. 19, 2010
I need eggless cakes due to my daughter having an egg allergy.. and this recipe is perfect! The cake is moist, fluffy and just delicious. Couple things worth noting: You can use canola oil instead of vegetable oil if anyone has a soy allergy - either oil works fine and tastes the same. You can also make this cake into vanilla cake by omitting the cocoa and using vanilla Jello pudding mix instead - delicious vanilla cake (I added just a tad bit more vanilla if making vanilla cake). Delicious cake!

Mozzarella Chicken

Reviewed: Sep. 19, 2010
This recipe is just out of this world! I only needed 2 servings for me and my husband, so cut the recipe down to 2 chicken breasts. I used Land of Lakes spreadable butter (didnt measure.. just put it on to coat the chicken!) and fresh mozzerella. For the bread crumbs, I used Progresso Parmesan bread crumbs. I also put in extra garlic (4 cloves) b/c we love garlic. Lastly, I used chicken brother rather than white wine. This recipe is a keeper. Takes a lot of prep work, but well worth it.. will makes this time and time again!

Apple Pie by Grandma Ople

Reviewed: Sep. 5, 2010
This is our Apple Pie :) I found this recipe about 4 years ago and we have made it for every Thanksgiving and Christmas.. we love it! It is a huge hit and is gone so fast - delicious! I do use Gala apples though rather than Granny Smith b/c I find the Granny Smith are too tart for my taste. Served with ice cream.. yummy!!

Dirt Cake I

Reviewed: Sep. 5, 2010
mmm.. dirt! The kids love this.. and so do the adults! I always follow the recipe exactly.. but, definitely use whole milk and good quality butter (I use Land of Lakes). Also, you can alternate this recipe a little bit.. you can make "mud" by using chocolate pudding mix or you can make "sand" by using vanilla oreo cookies rather than chocolate (and the "sand" is heavenly.. oh-my!)

Pollo Fajitas

Reviewed: Sep. 5, 2010
Have to give recipe 4 stars because the hubby wasnt crazy about them. I liked them.. something different and thought the taste was pretty good - the husband thought something was "missing" but couldnt quite put his finger on what that missing item was. I followed the recipe exactly but did use chicken breasts instead of thighs.

Cajun Chicken Pasta

I was looking for something new.. and found this recipe. It was pretty good! I omitted the mushrooms all together and used a regular onion instead of a green onion.. everything else I kept the same. Will definitely make again!

Apple Banana Cupcakes

Reviewed: Sep. 5, 2010
I loved these cupcakes! Although.. these are more like muffins in all honesty! They taste delicious. I did modify it just a tad based on reviews. I used applesauce instead of shortening, omitted the buttermilk entirely and used an egg substitute instead of eggs since my daughter is allergic to eggs. First time I made this, I used flaxseed as the egg substitute - the muffins were a little dense. The second time, I used ENER-G and they turned out so delicious! Because you can alter the ingredients, this is also an excellent vegan recipe - Highly recommended!

Slow Cooker Chicken Stroganoff

Reviewed: Sep. 5, 2010
This recipe was okay.. but the chicken was dry. I followed the recipe exactly as written and chicken cooked for 5 hours and it was way too dry.. If we make this again, I'll definitely cut the cooking time way down.. see if that helps with the chicken. On the other hand, the sauce was delicious!

Slow Cooker Italian Chicken Alfredo

Reviewed: Sep. 5, 2010
This was a pretty good recipe! I think we would make this again. I did take the advice of some other reviews though and used a can of cream of mushroom soup in place of the chopped can mushrooms. I also did not cook the chicken as long as the recipe said.. Total cooking time for me was 3.5 hours - any longer and the chicken would have been dry!

Chocolate Chocolate Chip Cookies I

Reviewed: Sep. 5, 2010
Excellent cookies! Took the advice of others and modified it just a tad.. I halved the recipe and did 1/2 cup butter and 1/2 cup shortening and did 1/2 cup sugar and 1/4th cup of brown sugar. Also used egg substitute since my daughter has an egg allergy - used ENER-G egg substitute. I'm pretty sure this is what caused the cookies to not "spread" and look like cookies.. they just remained as-is - so looked just like clumps of cooked dough, but nevertheless, they tasted heavenly!
