Party Pinwheels

Reviewed: Mar. 16, 2006
I have used this recipe several times for parties or potlucks. It gets rave reviews at gatherings. I wouldn't change a thing about this recipe.

Wild Rice Casserole I

Reviewed: Mar. 23, 2006
I really enjoyed this recipe and I will definately make again. I think I made an error in making it however, the recipe calls for 2 onions, finely chopped. I took this to mean regular onions and not what I refer to as "green onions"...well I thought it was a lot and only put in the one and still it had too much onion taste for me, but it was still good. I was wondering if anyone else had this problem since other reviewers didn't mention it or am I just "recipe-reading-challenged" not to figure this out...ha! I still gave it 5 stars as it was good and I know it will be a GREAT recipe when I use less onion.

Asparagus Quiche

Reviewed: May 29, 2007
This was an AWESOME Quiche!! My family loved it. I did add a small amount of onion and some mushrooms to it. Also I cooked the onion and mushrooms along with the asparagus in 2 tbsp. of bacon grease as suggested by other reviewers and it turned out great. Thank you for a very easy recipe that makes is so good.

Restaurant-Style Taco Meat Seasoning

Reviewed: Sep. 7, 2007
This seasoning mix was AWESOME!! Taste like the restaurant style but without the high sodium content and the "aftertaste" the boughten package mix has. This will be a standard for me, plus I'm going to make some of the spices up to give as gifts for friends as well. Thank you for sharing this recipe.

Jean's Homemade Chicken Noodle Soup

Reviewed: Sep. 19, 2007
I loved this recipe. I've made this a few times now. The first time I made as written except I did add the cut slices of ginger to the soup as I already had the chicken cooked after making my own chicken stock. Another time I added beef bullion for a different taste as another reviewer had suggested. But this recipe is a keeper no matter how you make it. YUM!!

White Cheese Chicken Lasagna

Reviewed: Sep. 30, 2007
My family and I loved this recipe. The only change I made was to use the oven-ready lasagne noodles as I didn't have any of the others on hand. It still turned out well. Just have to watch how much sauce you have for the top layer of noodles since I barely had enough to cover them, but all I did was push them back down into the sauce when the top ones "bowed up" at bit toward the end of cooking. My husband really liked the oven-ready as they were al dente in texture. The flavors in this was very good and as others have said....this tasted even better the next day!! We will be making this again. Thanks for sharing this recipe.

Sweet and Sour Sauce I

Reviewed: Dec. 15, 2007
This was an awesome sauce!! I'm only sorry I broke my golden rule of not making it EXACTLY as the recipe says for the first time. I instead used a combination of brown sugar and white sugar....now wish I would have just used the white. But it was still excellent. I made the mistake when I served my spring rolls the last time of deciding I didn't have time to make a sauce and instead bought a bottle at the store...yuk!! A waste of money. Instead I could have made this simple, easy and wonderful sauce. It will be kept in my box for future use.

High Temperature Eye-of-Round Roast

Reviewed: Jan. 19, 2008
I have to say I LOVE this recipe. So easy. Even my husband who is the "roast expert" in our house was amazed, especially since I didn't tell him until after I was done how I cooked it. Today I'm making this again with the Montreal Rub as other reviewers had recommended. Thanks Lyn for this recipe!! I now love making roast again.

Chili I

Reviewed: Jan. 27, 2009
I have made this recipe several times for my family. I always make a recipe as is the first time and we all loved the recipe as is. Now I add the onion soup mix and powdered garlic if I don't have the fresh on hand as it works as well. AWESOME recipe that doesn't require a whole lot chopping etc. which I appreicate at times. My 10-yr-old son loves it so for me that was all I needed to hear to make this a "keeper recipe"

Baby Back Ribs

Reviewed: Feb. 19, 2009
I have made this recipe several times. My husband and son now say they'll never order ribs again in a restaurant since eating these. I follow the recipe andhowever at the end of cooking I do open the foil and add additional sauce and then broil them so the sauce gets nice and sticky....but even if you don't do this, the ribs still are awesome! Making ribs used to intimidate me somewhat but now using this method it's super simple and the ribs turn out great every time.

Baked Beef Stew

Reviewed: Jun. 8, 2009
If I could rate this recipe with 10 stars I would! It was awesome! I've never baked a stew before but I think from now on, it's how I'm going to make it. My husband who is a very good cook said he'd never tasted better. I usually don't rate recipes I make changes to as I usually make recipes as is if I'm going to rate or review them, as it's not fair to the person who submitted the recipe. But I didn't have all the stuff to make this so I had no choice. With that said, here are the changes I had to make. I added stewed tomatoes in place of diced. Beef broth for the bullion/water and I sauted the onions with the beef and used some of the broth to deglaze the pan. I didn't have any tapioca so I added corn starch along with some more beef broth at the end. But I do think it's the overall process of baking this stew that makes it so good. The meat was tender without being mushy....the carrots and potatoes were not mushy either. THANK YOU Diane for this great recipe!!

Slow Cooker Stuffing

Reviewed: Oct. 12, 2009
Great Recipe that I've used for years. Family just loves it! Key is really to only add enough broth to moisten the mixture....so don't dump all the broth in at one time. Add it a little at a time. This can burn in the crockpot, so either check on it a few times or start it out on low setting. Not all crockpots heat at the same temperatures, even if on a low setting.

Mom's Stovetop Pork Ribs

Reviewed: Feb. 27, 2010
My family LOVED these ribs. I made the recipe as listed. I have to agree with some of the other reviews in that it was a bit too salty. I will for sure make again, but I'm going to try it with low sodium soy sauce. Putting lime juice on the ribs after cooking did help cut down the salty taste however. But still over all...easy to make and wonderful to eat! Thanks THELMALU99 for sharing your mom's recipe!

Mexican-Style Goulash

Reviewed: Jun. 10, 2010
Great Recipe! I needed something fast and easy to make for the family and this was it. Great recipe as is but after it was made my family each added our own additional spices to their dish. That's what's great about the recipe. Can add more chili powder if you like it spicy. I added some Sarachi chili sauce to mine to give it more kick. Thanks for a simple recipe that tastes great!

Pizza Casserole

Reviewed: Sep. 5, 2010
Loved this recipe. Did make some minor adjustments. Did not add green pepper as my son doesn't like them and we added more cheese. Added some to the mixture and the rest on top. But other than that....it is a very good satisfying recipe. I make-up my own pizza sauce by using Newman's Own Marinara Sauce and some tomato paste. I also add fresh oregino and basil to the sauce in season. THANK YOU for sharing a great recipe!

Italian Cream Soda

Reviewed: Dec. 30, 2011
Love Italian sodas! I used this recipe as a base but with different flavors. I have used milk as I don't always have cream handy and I add a bit more than this recipe calls for. For those having problems with curdling, I read somewhere that if you put the syrup in the glass first, then the milk/cream, stir. Then add the ice and finally the carbonated/soda water. Not sure if that works all the time, but it does for me. :)
