Caramel Popcorn

Reviewed: Dec. 7, 2011
I made this substituting xylitol "brown sugar" instead of regular and agave nectar instead of corn syrup. It worked perfectly. I took the advice of other reviewers and kept the cooked popcorn in the preheating oven to stay warm. It mixed well this way.

Gingerbread Boys

Reviewed: Dec. 7, 2011
I made this with xylitol and agave nectar instead of sugar and corn syrup. It turned out great. Quite delicious. The batter was a little dry but I haven't tried the recipe "as is" yet to compare, to see if the substitution was the culprit. Will be using this recipe for Christmas gifts so hopefully will be able to compare soon.

Red Velvet Cake III

Reviewed: Feb. 11, 2010
Great cake after the recommended changes, FABULOUS icing. For those who didn't like the icing my guess is they were looking for the traditional cream cheese frosting. I don't care for traditional cream cheese frosting and I LOVED this. It was lighter and fluffier & had a taste somewhere b/twn the cream cheese and the pudding. I usually scrape any icing off my cake and just eat the cake. This was one where I could have eaten just the frosting. I will use this frosting recipe over and over! I took the advice of others and doubled the red food coloring, used chocolate pudding for the vanilla in the cake, used 4 Tbsp cocoa powder and used melted butter instead of veggie oil. It tasted great - equivalent to a 4 star in my book, but since there were so many changes made I took a star off. I wish I could have given it a 3.5 though because I was wild for the frosting.

Chocolate Chocolate Chip Cookies I

Reviewed: Dec. 31, 2009
Wonderful! Per previous reviews I used half/half shortening/butter and brown sugar/white sugar. I also subbed 1 2/3 cups peanut butter chips then an additional 1/2 cup chocolate chips. Delicious. They came out thick and delicious.

Zucchini Yogurt Multigrain Muffins

Reviewed: Dec. 25, 2008
We can't get enough of this! I use about half the white sugar, sometimes none at all. I also add oatmeal, flax seeds & ground flax, maybe a quarter cup each (I don't measure, I just use what looks right). My kids beg for these, and so does my grown neighbor. :)

Absolute Best Liver and Onions

Reviewed: Dec. 21, 2005
I can barely force liver down usually and it's the only food I've ever found my husband won't eat. Pregnant, on a strict budget and told by my midwife I had to eat liver once a week, I despaired. I cannot thank you enough for this recipe! I actually enjoyed it, got my husband to try it and marked liver off the list as the only food he won't eat! You're a miracle worker! I only had time to soak the liver for about thirty minutes this time, so I can't wait to try it next time, when I'll soak it all day first. Man, thank you!!!

Butternut Squash Soup

One of my favorite recipes! I use half the cream cheese and substitute the other half with soft tofu to throw in some protein. This is an exceptional recipe!

Pumpkin Bread IV

Reviewed: Feb. 24, 2005
Everyone asks for this recipe. It's a family favorite. I save some batter and add milk to get pancake batter consistency, cook the pancakes on the skillet in metal acorn/pumpkin/leaf cookie molds and they're so easy yet impressive for fall get-togethers.
