Juicy Roasted Chicken

Reviewed: Jan. 20, 2011
I still cannot believe how juicy this chicken was. Next time I will try use a bit less butter on the outside and add some garlic and rosemary in the cavity. Definitely will start roasting my own chickens from now on.

Delicious Ham and Potato Soup

Reviewed: Jan. 9, 2011
This is a great recipe! The only modification I made was adding 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder. You could change this recipe to meet your tastes or the leftovers in your frig. For example, instead of ham, next time I am going to add italian sausage and kale. I could also see adding a little cheese to the roux and adding chopped broccoli. Thanks for a great recipe that my family devoured!

Chicken Gravy

Reviewed: Dec. 27, 2009
We needed a quick gravy and thought we would try this. After reading many of the reviews, I did not quite get the color issue until I made it. I even used milk instead of water with the cornstarch. To fix the problem, I added one boullian cube, as well as a bay leaf, into the thickening gravy. It gave it the golden color that was needed. It also added a little extra seasoning that was needed. I then added less poultry seasoning. In the past, we would have just skipped the gravy. Now, I know we have a quick tasty and customizable option for our family. Thanks!

Roasted Vegetable Orzo

Reviewed: Aug. 11, 2009
This is a good dish - however, not as flavorful as I expected with the seasonings to the pasta water. Next time I will try some of the suggestions, which include using red peppers, basil and additional salt/pepper.

Marinated Flank Steak

Reviewed: Feb. 1, 2009
This is a fabulous recipe. We have made this to the recipe and have followed some of the suggestions, such as using balsamic vinegar instead of red wine. We try to let it marinade over night if we can; However, it is good even if it is marinaded the same day. It is a can't go wrong recipe that can be changed as needed to accomodate your needs. Thank you so much! This has become a staple in our household.

Football Sunday Beer Cheese Soup

Reviewed: Sep. 14, 2008
This is a great creamy beer cheese soup that can be customized to anyone's liking. Sometimes we top this soup with cheese, sour cream and bacon. Other times with cheese, pico de gio, and green onions. NOTE: There is an error in the recipe. It says 1/4 cup cornstarch and I believe it was meant to be a 1/4 teaspoon. Past that, it is a great recipe we have and will continue to make. Thanks stopping the years of searching for our perfect cheese soup recipe!

Haddock Au Gratin

Reviewed: Feb. 8, 2008
This recipe is a nice break from the usual baked haddock. The fish was very tender and the cheese sauce truly tasted like au gratin potatoes. Since this was our first time making the recipe, we did not really modify it and we didn't need to. It is perfect just the way it is. Thanks for a great recipe that will be a staple in our household for years to come.

Shrimp Scampi V

Reviewed: Nov. 27, 2006
Great recipe! Simple, easy and tasty! I was a little nervous at the amount of the sauce, but once we added the noodles and veggies, it was perfect. Veggies you ask... they weren't in the recipe. After reading the reviews of other cooks, we made a few changes. We only used 1/2 cup wine and then added a splash of lemon juice, sauted onions, sauted red peppers and steamed broccoli. My two children (three and one) just devoured it. Next time we are going to try this with chicken breast strips. Thank you again for a great recipe!

Philly Cheese Steak Sandwich

Reviewed: Oct. 10, 2006
Takes just like Philly! This is a great and easy sandwich to make. It doesn't need anything except a nice dill pickle to go along with it. Some times for a change we add a little au jus on the side for dipping. This is not needed though. Another great recipe!

BBQ Chicken Salad

Reviewed: Oct. 10, 2006
This recipe was a refreshing change. We have made it a couple different ways. First, we made it just like the recipe and it was a great salad. Then, we altered it slightly. Instead of cutting up the chicken, we grilled the chicken breasts, poured the sauce over the chicken and used the veggie mixture like a salsa. This made more of a full meal versus just a salad. Now depending on our mood and our needs, we have two great options in one recipe. Enjoy!

Whit's Chicken Enchiladas

Reviewed: Oct. 10, 2006
We loved this recipe. It was extremely filling. It had such a rich creamy flavor. For quicker prep time, we suggest that you pre-cook the chicken and pull it apart a day ahead. This is definitely a make again and again and again!

Salisbury Steak Supreme

Reviewed: Oct. 10, 2006
This recipe was quick, easy and very tasty. We could not find the condensed French Onion soup, so we dissolved some beef boulion cubes in water, added some onion flakes and onion salt. Although it was not actually how it was suppose to be made, it turned out great. Thanks for the recipe!

My Grandma's Cool Cucumber Salad

Reviewed: Sep. 23, 2006
The creator of this recipe stated it well when he/she said, the portions are ambigious use your eye. Here is what we did and it turned out great! Instead of 2 cups, I used 1 1/2 cups sour cream. I added a tablespoon of vinegar and a pinch of sugar. Plus, you can't forget the dill. When making this recipe, you can't expect to follow it word for word. You need to add a little and check. Is it to your liking? If so, stop. If not, add more. Like they said, that is how the best cooks do it. Thanks for the recipe.

Garlic Bread Fantastique

Reviewed: Sep. 17, 2006
This is our new favorite garlic bread. I love the taste the sage adds to it. This is more like something you would get in a restaurant. Most garlic bread options taste like something you buy in the frozen section of a grocery store. This is definitely worth making again and again and again!

Asparagus Parmesan

Reviewed: Sep. 17, 2006
This was easy and simply to make. I did cut the amount of oil so I did not need to discard it later. Next time, I would add a little seasoning during cooking instead of after. Definitely a make again!

Beef Tips

Reviewed: Sep. 17, 2006
I read all the reviews prior to making this dish and kept an open mind. The pepper was way too much and this was way too salty. We even eliminated the salt completely. In addition, we tried adding some sour cream to offset the saltiness. This did work, but not enough to say I liked it. Despite all of this, I loved the simplicity of the recipe. Great concept, not great taste.

Garlic Penne Pasta

This recipe was just okay for our taste buds. It lacked flavor. We do plan to try it again with some changes - different spices and different vegetables. Overall, this recipe was nothing spectacular.

Greek Veggie Salad

Reviewed: May 21, 2006
This is a great and refreshing salad - simple and easy to make. If you purchase the pre-cut veggies, this is a throw together side for any occassion. Since I am not a fan of olives, I omitted them. Next time, I am going to try making it with the new Greek Vinagrette salad dressing. I will defintely make this again.
