About this Cook
My favorite things to cook
Anything new and different. I love to experiment with things I have never tried before. I love chopping and mixing all sorts of foods together.
My favorite family cooking traditions
I always remember my grandmother in her apron preparing this huge spread for the holidays for the whole family. It brings back wonderful memories of childhood. She made the best cornbread ever!
My cooking triumphs
I make great pot pie!
My cooking tragedies
One year for Thanksgiving, I was assigned to bring the dessert for Thanksgiving dinner at my mother's house. I opted for a pecan pie. I followed the directions exactly, but the pie was taking forever to cook. The Karo syrup just wouldn't gel. Finally, we were running late waiting on the pie and we just took it out of the oven and put it back in at my mother's. When it was time for dessert, we tried to cut into it (it still wasn't right) and that was when we realized the problem. I had forgotten to take the wax paper out of the pie shell! I still haven't lived that one down.

Lemon Garlic Tilapia
This was delicious! I made it exactly as stated, but didn't have to cook for as long as it stated to make sure not to overcook. I think next time I will cook in aluminum foil to preserve even more moisture. Thanks for the great recipe!

Sesame Pasta Chicken Salad
This was really tasty and unique. I followed the recipe to a "T" and wouldn't change anything next time around. I did keep the noodles separate from the chicken for leftovers so things wouldn't get soggy. Thanks for a great recipe!

Cajun Corn and Crab Bisque
This was very good! I hate it when people don't make the recipe as is, but I didn't have any liquid shrimp and crab boil seasoning or Cajun seasoning so I just used Old Bay and cayenne pepper. The flavor was great, so I can't imagine how good it would be with the seasonings that were called for. I prefer my soups a bit thicker so I think next time I make this I will use cream corn. Great cold night dinner!
