Sesame Pasta Chicken Salad

Reviewed: Sep. 14, 2005
This was very good! We served it for a lunch time meal. I bought six chicken thighs to boil and shred for the meat because thighs are cheaper. I also reduced the vegetable oil to little more than 1/3 cup, added juilenned carrots for a little bit of color and used 1/2 tsp of dried cilantro instead of fresh. This was an excellent meal. I was thoroughly impressed by the flavor of the sesame dressing. I highly recommend this dish!

Banana Muffins II

Reviewed: Aug. 22, 2005
Mmmm, these were so good! You will want to take other reviewer suggestions and use four average size bananas or 3 very large ones. The banana taste was a bit more subtle than my family's preference but the muffins were still delightful. A great recipe.

Chinese Style Sesame Sauce

Reviewed: Jul. 18, 2005
Excellent sauce! It does not get any better than this recipe! This is truly an authentic recipe! We use 1/4 cup of vinegar but this is just our taste preference. We use it for sesame chicken and it is fantastic.

Sesame Beef

Reviewed: Jun. 20, 2005
HIGHLY recommed following the recipe exactly! I used 4 tbl. brown sugar and 4 tsp white sugar to marinate the beef. The brown sugar kept it from becoming too sweet but without the additional white sugar it would carmalize the sauce. My husband ate it but wasn't overjoyed with it. It came out eatable. I am going to try it again but I think even with all the white sugar it's not the restaurant style recipe most are probably looking to prepare.

Chicken Fried Pheasant

Excellent! The advice about serving size is correct but this recipe is definitely worthy of more than 3 stars. It is quite good.

Lazygirl's Ground Turkey Stroganoff

Reviewed: Jun. 11, 2005
I made this recipe last night with great success. My husband who refuses to eat Hamburger Helper said this was good. This is a easy, delicious dinner. I made a few very minor changes. I used a little more onion than 1 TBL, added 2 tsp minced garlic (from a jar), added a 4 oz can of mushrooms, added 1 additional crushed cube of chicken bouillon and reduced the paprika to 1/2 TBL. Also, I melted about 1/3 c. butter into egg noodles. This is really worth a try! My picky family ate it!

German Rouladen

Reviewed: Feb. 8, 2005
I am a military wife who currently lives in Germany. This recipe is close but doesn't taste as good as the ones made in Germany. I was lucky that I was able to go to a German butcher and purchase the meat that they cut just for Rouladen. It is very, thin meat about 6 inches long. Ideally, your meat should be long enough to roll at least 3 times. You probably won't be able to buy the thick pork bacon that is used in Germany so use thin sliced bacon. It will taste better than regular thick sliced bacon. Also, to assist with the flavor put in 1 envelope of Lipton Beefy Onion soup mix. You can then thicken the gravy after the rolls are done to serve over them. Overall, this a very close copy of what we eat in Germany.

Green Pepper Pork Chops

Reviewed: Feb. 7, 2005
This was very good. For those people who are looking for "spicy" dish.. this is not for them. I did make some changes as suggested by another reviewer, DavidRayBob. I sprinkled the pork chops with salt, pepper and Old Bay Seasoning to liven them up after reading other reviews. I also sauteed the onions in butter with some garlic instead of oil. I also added some garlic and Old Bay Seasoning to the gravy before serving. I served it with the "Yummy Potatoes" recipe from this site. It was soooo good.

Chicken Fried Steak III

Reviewed: Jan. 22, 2005
Excellent. The breading was quite good, and it stayed on perfectly. If the recipe is followed EXACTLY, you will have no problems. The breading gave the steak a very good flavor which is usually my biggest complaint. We didn't make the gravy because my family is not a fan of it. It was a nice comfort food night.

Cracked Sugar Cookies I

Reviewed: Jan. 22, 2005
These were good but a bit too cakelike for our taste. They just didn't remind me of the "traditional" sugar cookie. I don't think I will make these again because my family didn't seem to like them very well.

Jiffy Cinnamon Rolls

Reviewed: Jan. 12, 2005
I can only give this recipe a two because the taste wasn't awful. But everything else about this recipe is less than desirable. I won't make it again but I do have some helpful hints for those who will try it. First, as everyone else stated the dough is extremely sticky so make sure to flour your hands and also put a little extra on the dough when you begin to roll it out. Second, make sure that you trim the dough to be a perfect retangle as it will aid in the helping the final product look normal. Third, don't waste time spooning 1 tsp of the brown sugar mixture into the pans. Instead, after cutting the cinnamon rolls dip each roll into the sugar and then place in the muffin pans. It's much easier this way. Also, after 18 minutes check them, they won't need 20-25 minutes unless your oven runs cold. And lastly, do not use the recommended amounts for the icing. You'll have to wing it by placing the confectioners sugar in a bowl and adding tsp's not tablesoons of milk until you get a creamy glaze. I hope this helps anyone else who chooses to make these but I would highly recommend taking the time to prepare them the RIGHT WAY!

Italian Breaded Pork Chops

Reviewed: Jan. 11, 2005
Good recipe! But, it does not work as well without a ovenproof skillet. Also, don't try to bake the chops without browning them first or they will be soggy.

Restaurant Style Egg Drop Soup

Reviewed: Jan. 7, 2005
Excellent! I didn't have any chicken broth so I made my own (4 bouillon cubes plus four cups of water) and I didn't have any fresh green onions so I used freeze dried chives I had in the refrigerator. I also doubled the ginger amount but it is certainly not necessary. A little trick to make the "egg drizzle process" easier is whip the eggs well and the slowly pour the egg in while briskly whisking the mixture. It makes the process much faster. Also, I add the cornstarch mixture before the egg. This is wonderful recipe for egg drop soup. It simply doesn't get any better!

Baked Havarti Chicken

Reviewed: Jan. 4, 2005
This recipe is FABULOUS! My husband took one bite and said it tasted like something he would have at a fine restaurant. My entire family loved this. The flavors went very well together. I didn't change a thing except double the mushroom sauce because I had a full pound of mushrooms and we all agreed that the extra mushrooms were good. My family loved the mushroom sauce so much we use it atop steak as well. I couldn't imagine anyone not loving this recipe. Thanks for sharing!

Italian Meatball Sandwich Casserole

Reviewed: Dec. 15, 2004
The flavor was good but the texture of the bread was soggy. Even after toasting the bread and using a very course, crispy bread from the bakery. We won't make this again. Sorry.

Chicken Marsala Florentine

Reviewed: Dec. 10, 2004
I thought this tasted fine but my family wasn't happy with the appearance. It wasn't "gorgeous" as described. My husband recently returned from Italy with a great bottle of Marsala wine, which made the flavor of the dish wonderful. However, my family doesn't want to see this on the dinner menu again.

Italian Roast Beef I

Very good flavor but make sure you use a tender roast. It is essential for the success of this recipe. The flavor and juices are savory. My kitchen was filled with appetite-inducing aromas!

Sweet and Sour Pork Patties

Reviewed: Dec. 2, 2004
This is a good, easy family pleasing recipe. I took another reviewer's suggestion and used the Sweet and Sour Sauce II recipe. But, be sure to half it for a family of four or otherwise you will have too much sauce.

Rempel Family Meatloaf

Reviewed: Dec. 2, 2004
My husband thought this was outstanding, and he hasn't liked any other meatloaf I have ever made. I made it because the title read, "My husband won't eat any other meat loaf but mine." Now my husband only likes this recipe! He is a steak fan so this was really a perfect meatloaf for his taste buds. The rest of the family also enjoyed it. Even if you love traditional meat loaf this is worth a try for a nice change of pace. Great job, Connie!
