Spicy Bean Salsa

Reviewed: Aug. 8, 2013
This turned out perfect. It tastes great and looks very authentic. I omitted the jalapenos and instead added 3 teaspoons of Tabasco sauce. It gave it a very subtle heat and worked very well with the mixture. Also I followed some advice and didn't use Italian dressing, instead I used 1/2 cup lemon juice, 2 tablespoons of olive oil, and a few shakes of salt and pepper. Yum!

This recipe is honestly too delicious! I didn't change a thing and it was perfect. Absolutely none left-over!

Lebanese Stuffed Zucchini (Coosa/Koosa)

Reviewed: May 10, 2013
Very tasty and authentic. I didn't have a small scoop so I used a butter knife and gently twisted the tip into the zucchini and it cored it out perfectly. I had to use more tomato soup and stewed tomatoes (plus I added water to make the sauce more liquid to cover all the zucchini in the pot) also I brought the sauce to a slight boil before I added the zucchini. Otherwise perfect!

Playgroup Granola Bars

Reviewed: Sep. 15, 2014
This recipe has changed our lives. I've been making this weekly for about two months now and I have not bought a single box of granola bars since. They are so easy to make I can do so in the morning before work and the ability to play and customize it is the best part. Thank you so much for this recipe!

Hot Artichoke and Spinach Dip II

Reviewed: Sep. 15, 2014
This is dangerously good!! It was a big hit when I made it for a family dinner party and the down side was I should have tripled the recipe because it was gone so fast I didn't get enough for myself!

Cocktail Meatballs

Reviewed: Aug. 14, 2013
These meatballs were perfect! Very delicious and easy to make. They are the perfect blend of sweet and heat. I served these as an appetizer to keep my guests held over until I was finished with the main dish and they called me out of the kitchen saying "if you want any of the meatballs you'd better hurry, they're almost gone!". I didn't use frozed meatballs as others did but maybe would consider it if I was serving more guests. Thanks for the recipe!

Awesome Slow Cooker Pot Roast

Reviewed: Aug. 14, 2013
This was very delicious and very easy. The meat had a great flavor and was very tender. I mixed the canned soup and the dry soup together and then rubbed it all over the meat, then poured the remainder on top. Also I added carrots and pearl onions in with the roast for the last hour and everything turned out perfect. Thank you!

Syrian Bread

Reviewed: Sep. 15, 2014
Very good recipe and perfectly authentic. The flour/salt/sugar ratios are spot-on. I wanted to wait before reviewing to make sure I wasn't doing something wrong with the recipe. I've made this many, many times and the bread always comes out just a little too tough. No, I'm not kneading too much. I do make sure to cook just under the time recommended or else on day two it is a little too crispy and breaks easily. I will continue to use this recipe though as I'm sure it is the best. As a side note- this is more like Lebanese bread. Syrian bread would be kept in a slightly flattened ball and baked for about an hour and turn out more like a crusty dinner roll. Both are delicious though. Thank you!

Banana Crumb Muffins

Reviewed: Aug. 15, 2014
Of course these were delicious, they have almost a whole stick of butter ;·) I made the recipe as written except I poured it into a loaf pan and it perfectly made one loaf that cooked thoroughly in a little over an hour at 350° F. The crumb topping was very yummy. I probably won't make again for just us though because of the amount of butter, perhaps to bring as a gift though.

Lime-Marinated Mahi Mahi

Reviewed: Jun. 6, 2013
Very tasty. We don't do spicy so I didn't add the cayenne pepper. Also 3/4 cup oil was way too much. 1/4 cup was plenty and I used a bit more lime juice.

Oatmeal and Wheat Flour Blueberry Pancakes

The texture of these were surprisingly smooth and fluffy. I did add a little cinnamon and more blueberries for our taste. It was nice to enjoy pancakes and not feel guilty. Very yummy!

Mexican Cream Cheese Rollups

Reviewed: Feb. 2, 2014
The only thing mexican about these is the tortillas and the salsa which do not add enough flavor to tip the scales in that direction. Otherwise the olives overpowered the general flavor and this turned out to be not very tasty at all. I brought them to a birthday party and everyone only had one or two.

Lebanese Chicken and Potatoes

Reviewed: Feb. 2, 2014
This was very tasy and authentic. My husband's family apparently makes this with MUCH more lemon sauce so when I drained the broth out of the pan I slowly added it to the lemon mixture before pouring it back on the chicken.

Mediterranean Puff Pastry Chicken

Reviewed: Jan. 13, 2014
This was possibly one of the most delicious recipes I've ever made. I followed it exactly with only two exceptions: I marinated my chicken for about an hour in olive oil and Mediterranean spices, and I did cut my pastry into 4 pieces and rolled them to be slightly bigger to fit all the ingredients. This is only because the pastry comes in a rectangular shape instead of square. I think anyone who said it was soggy or bland simply didn't make it correctly or use the correct ingredients. Be sure to read the thawing instrucions on the puff pastry. It is a very heat-sensitive material so you have to thaw it properly. I usually place my cutting board in the freezer for about 20 mins before I put the pastry on it to prevent it from pre-cooking. All-in-all this truly was super delicious and I would make it again without changing a thing!

The Best Lemon Bars

Reviewed: Aug. 8, 2013
This recipe was tasty but I'm not sure if I would make it again. There was way too much butter in the crust and I also needed to add extra lemon juice to the filling.

Red Velvet Cupcakes

Reviewed: Jul. 3, 2013
Extremely delicious! Just an FYI, I know this is a cupcake recipe, but do not attempt to make this into a layer cake (I think it would make a sheet cake with no problem) because the icing is not stiff enough to hold up the layers, also the cake is a bit crumbly so you basically end up with a big mess.
