Banana Crumb Muffins

Reviewed: Mar. 31, 2011
Delicious! I amended this recipe using the suggestions in K. Lynn's review and the muffins are perfect. My three smashed bananas equaled about a cup and the muffins had the perfect amount of banana flavor! I'm taking these to a baby shower and I know they'll be a hit. Thanks, Lisa!

Rich Chocolate Frosting

Reviewed: Feb. 16, 2011
The only bad thing I can say a bout this is I probably gained ten pounds from going in the refrigerator multiple times to stick my finger in. =P I halved this to go on top of Brooke's Bombshell Brownies, and I had plenty left over for finger-dipping!

Libby's® Pumpkin Cranberry Bread

Reviewed: Nov. 19, 2010
Yum! Four stars because I followed some suggestions from other reviewers. I reduced the sugar by about 25%, subbing brown sugar for half. I also subbed in Craisins for the cranberries and threw in some chopped walnuts(both to taste-or look, I guess!). I didn't feel like boiling the Craisins as others suggested, so I added in a few few extra tablespoons of orange juice to compensate for the liquid I assumed would be absorbed by the Craisins. Delish! Oh! I also used the small loaf pans and baked for about 40 minutes. One recipe will make eight!

Apple Strudel Muffins

Reviewed: Nov. 5, 2010
Delicious! I used half brown sugar and added cinnamon like others suggested(was out of nutmeg) and added about 1/4 cup of applesauce since the batter was dry. I also added the apples to the dry ingredients instead of the wet so that they wouldn't sink to the bottom while baking. I got 17 average size muffins out of this recipe! I'll definitely make it again!

Tomatillo Salsa Verde

Reviewed: Aug. 30, 2010
This wasn't great for me. It's a good base recipe, but the cilantro flavor was way too strong for my tastes. It needs a little more heat and maybe more seasoning to give it some depth. I did follow the advice of other reviews and blend first, then cook with no added water. The consistency this way was nice. I will try this again, but with a few tweaks!

Creamy Chicken and Wild Rice Soup

Reviewed: Jul. 15, 2010
Fantastic every time! I saute some garlic and onion in the butter before adding seasonings, and I use nonfat milk instead of cream. Besides that I leave it as is!

Absolutely Ultimate Potato Soup

Reviewed: Jul. 14, 2010
I made a few changes to suit our preferences, but this was excellent! I used half and half instead of cream and only half a pound of bacon and that was plenty. I left out the celery, tarragon and cilantro and topped with sour cream and cheese. Yumm!!

Hot Artichoke and Spinach Dip II

Reviewed: Apr. 19, 2010
This was really good! I did make some changes, so part of me feels like I shouldn't review it, but I did like the basic recipe. I subbed sour cream and stirred in the mozzarella like others suggested. I also left out the basil and added some cayenne pepper along with using fresh spinach instead of frozen. I will definitely continue playing with this one-still needs a little extra something but it's a great place to start!

Andrea's Pasta Fagioli

Reviewed: Dec. 22, 2008
Going only off of my husband's "review" since I didn't have any, this turned out very well!I subbed diced tomatoes for half of the tomato sauce, and husband asked that next time I also add a little ground beef and extra beans. Thanks, op!

J.P.'s Big Daddy Biscuits

Reviewed: Nov. 23, 2008
Very good and very easy! I made mini biscuits using a champagne glass to cut and served them as appetizers with apple butter. The only change I made was using half butter and half shortening.

Eileen's Spicy Gingerbread Men

Reviewed: Nov. 21, 2008
Very simple! I premeasured the ingredients and let my friends two year old help mix and cut the cookies. I used butter instead of margarine and 3/4 tsp allspice in place of cloves since I have none. If you're using intricate cookie cutters I recommend refrigerating overnight and working with small batches of dough while the rest remains refrigerated. It's also best to cut as close together as possible since the more time you role the dough out the tougher it gets. Mine started to get "well-done" around seven minutes so next time I'll cook them only for 6-6 1/2 minutes or make them thicker for a chewier cookie.

Chuck's Favorite Mac and Cheese

Reviewed: Nov. 15, 2008
Mmmmm! I made this today for our church potluck tomorrow. I doubled the recipe, but I really didn't need to! I'm glad I did, because I am sitting here eating the extra. I gave it only four stars because I made a few changes. Instead of adding the shredded cheese to the macaroni, I made a roux of about 2 tbsp butter and flour, then added about 1 cup of milk, 1 cup of half and half. I let it thicken and added all the cheeses. After I removed it from the heat I added the sour cream. I mixed the noodles and cheese sauce in 2 9x13s, topped with the butter and PANKO breadcrumb mixture, and browned it in the top third of the oven for 10-15 minutes. The Panko makes all the difference-I love the extra crunch! I will definitely make this again-it will be replacing my family recipe in this house!

French Apple Tart (Tarte de Pommes a la Normande)

Reviewed: Nov. 13, 2008
This was a little bland for my taste and needed a little more apple flavor. I will make it again because I definitely think it is a "workable" recipe, but next time perhaps I'll cook down some apple juice and add that to the filling. Also, be sure to refrigerate the filling if it is ready before the dough is chilled! I didn't, which I think is what caused some of the butter to melt out through the crust. Thank, Wurzeltree!

This is great bread! My husband loves cornbread so I know he'll flip over this. Reduced the recipe to 8 servings and baked in an 8x8 dish for 25 minutes. Turned out perfectly!

Baked Basil Fries

These fries had great flavor. Only problem was that they didn't get crispy even though I cut them very thinly. I'll definitely play with the baking time until I get it right, as I looked the taste of these fries!

Yum! Made these at a friend's request and they sure were good. I had to add some extra peanut butter, as they were a little dry as is.

The Best Rolled Sugar Cookies

Reviewed: Nov. 7, 2008
These cookies were very good! The only problem for me was that, even after refrigerating, they were way sticky. I added more flour and refrigerated again and they rolled out fine. Make sure to take the dough out only as you need it, as it will get soft quickly.

Asian Orange Chicken

Reviewed: Nov. 3, 2008
Very good. I reduced the sugar a little, as it seemed like a ton, and it was still very sweet. The other flavors balanced out the sweetness well, though, and I would make it again. Make sure not to stir or flip the chicken too often or the flour coating will come off. I served this with rice and stir-fried broccoli.
