About this Cook
My favorite things to cook
My mom's recipe for chicken pot pie. No one has ever tried it and not liked it.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Growing up, EVERYTHING was an excuse to get together and have good food. I've learned many of my favorite recipes from the Friday night, Saturday evening, and Sunday afternoon potlucks at our house.
My cooking triumphs
Learning HOW to cook! I moved out at 18 capable of making only grilled cheese and soup. I have advanced by leaps and bounds, and most everyone loves my food, but I wouldn't call myself an expert :)
My cooking tragedies
Surprisingly few and far between. As long as you stick strictly to tried and true recipes in the beginning, there's not too much to mess up :)

Banana Crumb Muffins
Delicious! I amended this recipe using the suggestions in K. Lynn's review and the muffins are perfect. My three smashed bananas equaled about a cup and the muffins had the perfect amount of banana flavor! I'm taking these to a baby shower and I know they'll be a hit. Thanks, Lisa!

Apple Strudel Muffins
Delicious! I used half brown sugar and added cinnamon like others suggested(was out of nutmeg) and added about 1/4 cup of applesauce since the batter was dry. I also added the apples to the dry ingredients instead of the wet so that they wouldn't sink to the bottom while baking. I got 17 average size muffins out of this recipe! I'll definitely make it again!

Tomatillo Salsa Verde
This wasn't great for me. It's a good base recipe, but the cilantro flavor was way too strong for my tastes. It needs a little more heat and maybe more seasoning to give it some depth. I did follow the advice of other reviews and blend first, then cook with no added water. The consistency this way was nice. I will try this again, but with a few tweaks!
