Chickpeas in Tomato Sauce With Feta and Wine

Reviewed: May 17, 2006
Wow, this is delicious! I followed the recipe except for not draining the tomatoes, then poured the whole lot over some chicken breasts and baked them for about 1/2 hour - really really good.

Asian Barbequed Steak

Reviewed: Mar. 26, 2006
This was a great marinade. I used porterhouse steaks from Australia and let them marinate for 48 hours - don't know if it was good steak or the marinade, but they were really tender even though my husband overcooked them a bit on the BBQ (few too many beers while cooking!). The flavour was great too and our guests raved about the steaks.

Kalamata Stuffed Mushrooms

Reviewed: Apr. 2, 2006
These were very good - I used large portobello mushrooms, 2 for each person, and served them as an appetiser on a bed of stir-fried asian greens and cherry tomatoes with balsamic dressing. I added a dollop of pesto on top of each one and then scattered each with a teaspoon of pinenuts. I had enough filling for 18 large mushrooms but I added a bit more feta, red bell pepper and kalamata olives. I left all other quantities the same. Very very tasty and my guests loved them.

Tofu and Veggies in Peanut Sauce

Reviewed: Apr. 9, 2006
Really good - I did as other reviewers suggested and sauted fresh ginger and garlic in the oil before adding the broccoli and other vegetables, and also added 1 tsp dried chilli flakes to the sauce. I left out the molasses, it seemed unnecessary. Husband loved it too.

White Chocolate Gorp

Reviewed: Apr. 22, 2006
Had put off making this as it sounded a bit time consuming, but just tried it and it's super quick and easy. Only made 1/2 the quantity and used small chocolate-coated honeycomb nuggets instead of the mini-candy coated chocolate pieces - a bit of a mistake as the chocolate on the outside melted into the white chocolate when I mixed it in. However it still tasted great! Also left out the toasted oat cereal and don't think I would have had enough chocolate to coat everything if I'd used it. My husband and guests absolutely loved this, will definitely be making it regularly.

Pork, Cashew, and Green Bean Stir-Fry

Reviewed: Apr. 27, 2006
This was great - quick, easy, tasty and healthy. I made 1/2 the amount and added a handful of bean sprouts with the beans. We had it on its own, didn't need the rice.

Chicken with Lemon Sauce

Reviewed: Oct. 30, 2012
Cooked this for a pretty fussy crowd including tweens and teens and all loved it (including me). Used white wine instead of apple juice, and didn't add butter into the sauce but all else per recipe. Excellent.

Orange, Walnut, Gorgonzola and Mixed Greens Salad with Fresh Citrus Vinaigrette

Reviewed: May 23, 2006
Made this for a BBQ and it was really good. I took advice from lots of other reviewers - used pears instead of orange, added dried cranberries, used Danish blue cheese as couldn't find gorgonzola and used lots more than the recipe suggested, used pecans instead of walnuts, added garlic to the dressing and halved the dressing quantity, leaving the sugar out altogether.

Chickpea Curry

Reviewed: May 29, 2006
I substituted ground cloves for whole, and ground cinnamon for crushed cinnamon sticks. When it was done, it didn't really look like dinner...so I cooked 6 bratwurst sausages, sliced them and added them, along with 2 heads of chopped broccoli, and then simmered, covered, for another 20 minutes - it was a delicious all-in-one meal. Oh, I also drained and rinsed the chickpeas first, and used water instead of the liquid from the can - it is full of salt and preservatives.

Blonde Brownies I

Reviewed: Aug. 19, 2006
Very good brownies. I left out the walnuts as my kids don't like them, and mixed the chocolate into the mix instead of sprinkling on top. Also put 100's and 1000's sprinkles on 1/2 before baking, the kids love them. Really easy to make too.

Imitation Meatloaf

Reviewed: Aug. 20, 2006
This was REALLY good, moist and tasty. I used fresh breadcrumbs instead of dried (4 slices wholemeal bread), green lentils instead of brown, left out the wheatgerm, added 2 cloves of crushed garlic, 1 shredded carrot and 2 sticks chopped celery. Also I topped it with BBQ sauce before cooking, and cooked for 1 1/2 hours. My husband loved it too.

I halved the olive oil and added some cumin, but did everything else according to the recipe and loved it.

Basil Shrimp

Reviewed: Sep. 16, 2006
Instead of grilling, I put everything including the marinade into a frying pan, added 1/2 cup white wine, and cooked on the stove top. Served it over quinoa - delicious.

Marshmallow Crispie Bars

Reviewed: Oct. 1, 2006
So easy and so good (according to my husband and kids anyway - they're not really my scene so I didn't try them). I did as others suggested and added an extra 1/2 cup of rice krispies and they were perfect. Thanks for the tip on using a wet spoon to press it into the pan, it worked well.

Delicious Black Bean Burritos

Reviewed: Oct. 8, 2006
My husband absolutely loved these so I had to give 5 stars - I quite liked them but would only have given a 4. I followed the recipe except omitted the salt, used a whole red pepper, and added dash of cumin and cayenne. There was enough filling for 4 burritos. A bit too much cream cheese for me - I'll cut down next time. But great recipe.

Mom's Chocolate Cake

Reviewed: Nov. 11, 2006
Very quick and easy. Made a few changes - used a round 8 inch cake tin and had to bake for 1hr 10min, and used 1/2 cup boiling water and 1/2 cup Tia Maria in place of coffee. It rose well, was moist and tasted great. Next time I'll split it and fill it with raspberries and cream but this time I didn't ice it, it great as it was.

Fantastic - loved it. My husband licked the bowl (I'm not joking!). Followed the recipe almost exactly, only used a bit less mustard per other reviewers' advice.

Triple the Ginger Cookies

Reviewed: Jan. 13, 2007
Couldn't stop eating these! Very very good. Take note of the recipe guideline about spacing the cookies apart enough - I didn't do this with the first batch and they spread and stuck together.
