About this Cook
I am a working mother that loves to cook and experiment. I mostly enjoy nice traditional meals that bring the family together. I absolutely LOVE this site and the variety it brings to our table. The recipes I have found here have become the best traditions at our family gathers. Thanks for making cooking so handy.
My favorite things to cook
I love to do the big tradtional family meals. You know the ones that keep you in the kitchen all day long. In the summer my family is big on convenience and bar-be-ques. And of course there is always the need for that special dish they all rave over at the Church potluck!
My favorite family cooking traditions
Making Christmas cookies with my little guy. We love to give cookies during the holidays and the ones we find here are delicious. It makes baking so much fun when I have a little helper.
My cooking triumphs
I actually found this site trying to learn how to bake a Turkey. It was my first Thankgiving to entertain my daughter-in-law and future daughter-in-law. I had made turkeys in the past, but always too dry. Thanks to this site I made the most moist, tender Thanksgiving Turkey ever! It was the best meal ever. Thanks for helping me impress the ones I wanted to impress most.
My cooking tragedies
My very first attempt at bringing a dish for the annual Thanksgiving feast once I married and left home was an absolute fiasco! I wanted to impress my father with my version of my grandmothers tried and true coconut cream pie. I called grams and wrote down her every word, or at least what I thought I heard. She told me to use corn starch and I wrote corn syrup! Needless to say even a stay in the freezer wouldn't make my pie set up. Oh well, there was always next year...I chose something premixed in a box!

Quinoa and Black Beans
I loved this. I used Extra Virgin Olive Oil instead of the vegetable oil and increased it to 3 tbsp. I also used 3 tsp of refrigerated chopped garlic. I substituted 1 tbsp of Creole seasoning for the cayenne pepper, salt and pepper. And added 1 14.5-oz. can of diced tomatoes. It was a HIT! I will definitely make again! Thanks for the recipe!

Banana Banana Bread
This is perfect for that one loaf breakfast bread. I didn't modify the recipe at all. It was perfect as is. Just the right amount of sweetness. We let the loaf cool and sliced it to store in an airtight container. It is so yummy, especially the next day. This recipe has it all simple ingredients, easy to make and delicious. Definitely a keeper to have on hand. Thanks for the recipe.

Restaurant-Style Spinach Casserole
Delicious and simply! My kind of EASY!!! I used fresh green onions from the garden and a teaspoon of chopped garlic. Also took others suggestion of using cream of mushroom soup. I sauteed the onion and garlic in 3 tblsp of butter, then added flour and about 1/2 cup of half n half, then soup. I also used a 16 oz. bag of frozen chopped spinach (thawed). Great flavor and supper quick side-dish! Perfect for any occasion! Thanks for recipe. It is keeper for sure.
