Amaretto Cake

Reviewed: Mar. 13, 2005
I didn't like this recipe, I thought it was kinda heavy, even though very moist. It tasted too much like a box cake that was soaked in amaretto. But my neighbors liked it so I gave it to them.

Homemade Butter

Reviewed: Jan. 12, 2005
Great idea. Never knew you could do that. Only problem is, if you have leftovers and refridgerate overnight. The butter will harden, then it will but just as to soften as it is to make.

Queijadas

Reviewed: Jan. 12, 2005
I really liked this recipe. It was very easy to make and all the ingredients were on hand. I don't know why others didn't like it. I actually didn't even know what these were or how they are suppose to look when they come out. But it was tasty and not burnt. They are like little patties. They have a cake type texture outside but creamy inside, like a custurd. I did take the advice of another reviewer and sprayed the pan with nonstick spray, also I added a little orange zest to the blender. Everything tasted great!

American Lasagna

Reviewed: Jan. 11, 2005
This is the easiest lasagna I've ever made. I thought it was just right. I don't really like my lasagna to be too saucy. So I didn't change anything. It tasted very good. And all ingredients were either on hand or easy to find. And where I live I only have one store to shop from. I make this recipe often.

Stuffed Mushrooms IV

Reviewed: Nov. 29, 2004
At first these didn't look too appealing. After you take the mushrooms out of the oven they have a gray brown color. Add some parmesan or salsa on top to give some color. Very yummy, I should have made more cause all the woman at Thanksgiving ate it all before the men got any.

Cinnamon Bread I

Reviewed: Oct. 26, 2004
This is an awesome recipe. I substituted applesauce for the oil and sifted the dry ingredients before adding it to the moist ones. Also, used brown sugar for the marble topping instead. Everything turned out well and lower in fat.

Perfect Porterhouse Steak

Reviewed: Sep. 7, 2004
This was a very easy recipe, although when I grilled the steaks the came out only with a slightly bland taste. My husband added steak sauce when eating. The only time I think a steak has good miranade is when my husband doesn't added steak sauce.

Egg Tarts II

Reviewed: Sep. 7, 2004
This recipe was alright. I didn't feel like it had the same taste that you find in most dim sims resturants, which was what I was looking for. I also, didn't think it was very sweet like most reviewers said. I did think this recipe was easy and fairly quick. I didn't have tartlet cups so I used a muffin pan which worked. Also, I had to bake much longer then what was suggested.

Scott Ure's Clams And Garlic

Reviewed: Sep. 4, 2004
This was a really good recipe. I had to subsitute the clams for mussels due to the fact that I'm poor and they don't have that at the commmissary. But the recipe still turned out excellent. I tossed the mussels in a linguene pasta. Yum!

Quick Chinese-Style Vermicelli (Rice Noodles)

Reviewed: Aug. 13, 2004
I liked this recipe, even though I kinda changed it up. After boiling the noodles. I heated the oil and garlic, then added some leftover chicken, I put in a few tsp of teriyaki sauce, and the added the noodles, stir and added some more teriyaki sauce and served. My daughter and I liked it. I wanted to add the chili sauce but I didnt have any. So I use a dash of pepper, which really didnt do anything so I added a little soy sauce. Yum.

Coconut Shrimp I

Reviewed: Jul. 29, 2004
This was a super easy recipe. I don't know why everyone seems to complain about dipping the shrimp in 3 different batters. That doesnt take much work. Work would be dipping, grilling, baking, then deep frying. But this recipe was simple. Dip 3X then fry til brown. My neighbors loved it.

Fantastic Crab Dip

Reviewed: Jul. 29, 2004
This was a pretty good and really easy recipe. I added some celery and a little onion so it would have more taste, and I used cream cheese with chives.. I thought this recipe was a lot easier and better then the others that called for cocktail sauce or horseradish.

Beef Jerky

Reviewed: Jul. 13, 2004
This recipe was really easy to do. Although, I didn't marinade my meat over night ( about 20mins) it still turned out really good. I don't know how it is with the oven, I used a dehydrator. I put it in there for about 7 hours and everything turned out really good. I would next time trying adding something different to the ingredient since the meat tasted like the store bought stuff. Maybe trying a different cut of meat.

Jack's French Toast

Reviewed: Jul. 13, 2004
This is a really good recipe. I usually never give review, but I really like this recipe. Simple ingredients that were all on hand and quick to make. I would, however, recommend that you should only make this if you have a deep fryer. I haven't tried making it on a frying pan but it would probably be messy (as one reviewer mention). I added a little nutmeg and cinnimon to my mix, I cut my toast into halves, diagonally, and then batter. I fried for about 3mins each side and then flip. They all turned out perfect. I had no problems. I gave some to my neighbor who loved it.
