Amish Peanut Butter

Reviewed: Jun. 7, 2007
This is more like a peanut butter topping for ice cream. It goes well on toast, too, though. Heck, peanut butter goes great on anything in my opinion. I also made a batch where I added carmel ice cream topping and mixed it together. Of course, that was certainly used for ice cream sundaes. This is exactly like a spread that is served at an Amish restaurant in Southern Indiana. Thanks for the recipe.

Cassie's Zucchini Brownies

Reviewed: Jul. 18, 2006
I have a massive amount of zucchini to use this summer and I found this brownies. They are very cake-like, which I love! The recipe was very easy and went together in about 5 minutes (zucchini already prepared). I didn't follow the other reviews until the brownies had baked about 10 minutes and then I decided to sprinkle some mixed chips on top. I also iced with a chocolate icing. They are yummy and will go over very well here!

Colossal Caramel Apple Trifle

Reviewed: Apr. 18, 2007
I don't know in what kind of world one lives in that they can fit this recipe in a trifle bowl, but the massive amount of trifle that this makes doesn't impede the awesome flavor. I don't particularly care for apples, so I am trying to think of a way to adapt it to peach pie filling. However, as far as apples go this gets a huge 5 stars. The pudding mixture was great and I toasted my pecans before putting them in. Thanks for the great, big, awesome recipe!

Cream Of Garlic Soup

Reviewed: Mar. 14, 2007
This didn't seem to be as much work as some of the others suggested. Maybe I just knew that it would be worth it so it didn't bother me. Some of the other reviewers also suggested that this recipe might be to runny. I followed the recipe exactly (with the exception of using more broth instead of wine) and it turned out just like we had experienced on our cruise vacations. This is great served out of bread bowls!! Thanks for the recipe.

Tri-Mustard Salad

Reviewed: May 8, 2006
hmmmm . . . tomatoes and mustard . . . 2 of my least favorite things, yet 2 of my husband's faves. But they say a way to a man's heart is through his stomach and I am jonesing for a new digital camera that costs $900 so I made the salad. And to my surprise it is quite good. We had nicely ripened yet firm tomatoes and this made huge amount of salad. My dh hasn't tried it yet, but I know he will love, love, love it. You think the mustard is going to be to much, but it isn't. It makes a great summer salad! I will make this again and I will eat it, too, even though I doubted the recipe at first.

Glazed Ham Balls

Reviewed: Jan. 30, 2008
I prefer my ham loaf or balls without glaze, but my daughter who hates ham loaf or balls loved this recipe. Both my daughter's and my husband gave it a 2 thumbs up and I have to agree. It was easy to prepare and it freezes well to be baked at a later time. Thanks for sharing.

Chex® Pumpkin Pie Crunch

Reviewed: Dec. 20, 2010
My husband loves this! He even put milk on it and ate it like cereal. I will make this again, but I will double the butter/brown sugar mix to make it more coated.

Ham Casserole

Reviewed: Nov. 14, 2013
I made this tonight and followed the recipe except for the green pepper (I do not like cooked green pepper!) and it was a family hit! We sat around the table talking about the next time I make it that I should add broccoli, cauliflower, mushrooms and could even put it in pie crust to make it like a pot pie. This will definitely be a make again and I may try changing it up with sausage, smoked sausage, or other meats! 5+ Stars!!!

Chicken Oreganato

Reviewed: Jan. 4, 2012
I am giving this 5 stars based on what I did to the recipe. The original does call for salt and pepper to be added to the oregano, so if you don't do that, I can see where it would be bland. I used lemon pepper and tiger seasoning in with my oregano. I skipped the step of rinsing and drying my chicken. I dredged it in my oregano mixture, placed it in my pan, then drizzled the EVOO and lemon juice over the top. I baked it for a little longer than called for (because my husband wasn't home yet). I served it with roasted asparagus and rice pilaf...I loved the flavors of this dish and could see it with other spices as well. I will be making this again, and again! It doesn't hurt that I love chicken thighs to begin with and this gave me another fool-proof method of preparation! Thanks, OP for the great recipe.

Egg Noodles

Reviewed: Jan. 4, 2011
Make sure you cut these thin or they taste doughy even when fully cooked. Very easy recipe and very tasty...even when a little doughy! This was my 2nd time making the recipe and both times they turned out great.

Peanut Butter Cake V

Reviewed: Feb. 12, 2006
The recipe was certainly simple enough, but that is the only thing it has going for it. I am a huge peanut butter fan, but this recipe was lacking for something. It came out like a very large, dry peanut butter cookie. I was very disappointed in this recipe and will not be making it again.

Beef Bourguignonne

Reviewed: Dec. 15, 2010
I don't think this cut of meat can get tender enough to suit me within this cooking time. That is my reason for 4 starts. I also added some 7 pepper blend to spice it up to suit my husband's taste. Originally, I thought the sauce was a tad bland. It is a good recipe and a great starting point to play with different seasonings and flavors. I served it over orzo pasta. Thanks for the recipe and I would make this again, but with definite changes to the seasoning blend.

Sushi Roll

Reviewed: Mar. 30, 2010
I'm not a huge sushi eater, but I really did like this recipe. I took another reviewers advice and made a roll with bacon and avacado. It was my favorite. I will be making this again later in the week using shrimp. Today we used crab, bacon, and salmon.

I doubled the butter...but otherwise, these were amazing. I had a few leftovers and am looking forward to eating those for breakfast. I would definitely recommend this recipe!

Sweet Potato Pie I

Reviewed: Nov. 15, 2011
I am not a fan of sweet potatoes, but my husband requested a sweet potato pie. I followed the recipe with the exception of using 1/2 brown sugar and 1/2 white sugar and baking my sweet potatoes. I was going to add a few tbsp. of flour as suggested, but I forgot. I just tried a piece, and must admit, it is surprisingly good. My husband said it was the best sweet potatoe pie he had ever had. I will certainly make this again. It was a huge hit!

Cheesy Corn

Yummy! It kind of tastes like barbequed corn. It's very easy and everyone raves about it! I love this as a summer side dish served with hamburgers or steaks on the grill! Thanks for the recipe.

Algerian Carrots

Reviewed: Dec. 17, 2013
I made these carrots for dinner tonight. I followed it for the most part. The only thing I changed was I reduced the amount of carrots by about 1/2 pound, I used a little less oil, and only about 1/2 of the cinnamon called for. Everyone liked them (except the 11 year old who didn't like the spice blend). I love carrots so I will be making them again, but will probably reduce the cinnamon even further as it was a rather bold, albeit nice, flavor. Oh yeah, I also used baby carrots.

Tuna Noodle Casserole from Scratch

Reviewed: Sep. 15, 2013
I do not like hot tuna . . . at all! I usually only eat tuna in homemade tuna salad. However, this was amazing! My family loved it! I left the base recipe alone (mostly). I did add some seasoning salt to the veggie mix, took another reviewers advice and cooked the Peas (I actually used peas and carrots) for about 4 minutes with the noodles, and also added some seasoning salt and badia seasoning to the "gravy" mix. I also used French onions on the top instead of the bread crumbs. So, I say I left the base recipe alone because I didn't change anything except adding the carrots and the seasonings. I can't believe I am giving a tuna noodle casserole 5 stars. I used the skinny egg noodles and rinsed them in cold water after cooking so they wouldn't get mushy in the oven...it was perfect and yummy and I will make it again! I plan on trying to change up the tuna and use ground chicken and ground beef to get different versions! Thanks for a great recipe!

Killer Shrimp Soup

Reviewed: Feb. 6, 2012
I tried to stay as true to the recipe as I could, the only thing I added was a little Johnny's seasoning salt and old bay seasoning. I also marinated the shrimp in some olive oil and old bay seasoning before adding it to the broth. My husband really, really liked it and told me to add it to the make again pile. I did serve with soft french bread, but think I would have been happier with crusty bread. It wasn't exactly what I was looking for, but I would certainly make again. I was hoping for something similar to Ruth's Chris shrimp appetizer. All in all, a very good recipe and it went together very easily.

Italian Sausage, Peppers, and Onions

Reviewed: Jan. 19, 2011
I am giving this a 5 because of the ease of the recipe. I did alter the recipe just a little by adding a jar of marinara sauce to the peppers and let the sausages simmer in that. I am sure that it would have been just as good without, but the marinara made it extra special. I will definitely make this again, as my husband was extremely happy with the dish and I also thought it quite good. This is kind of surprising to me, as I tend not to like anything with cooked peppers in it. The picture is spot on to how mine looked prior to adding the marinara, as well! Thanks for the recipe.
