My favorite childhood buddies
About this Cook
I am currently teaching high school English and love it. I learned that I loved cooking when I was a kid, so I've tried to develop new techniques and recipes to make them healthier and easier than some of the things I've stolen from my mom and grandma.
My favorite things to cook
Desserts, fish, roast pork or beef--anything I can make prettily. I love to garnish stuff to enhance flavors. I am currently playing around with Indian Dishes--curries, tikka masaslas, etc.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Making sugar cookies with my mom, brother and sister at Christmastime. We still occasionally get together to do this.
My cooking triumphs
My first Thanksgiving Dinner. It was incredible--thanks to mom's family recipe for spinach appetizers and real cranberry relish.
My cooking tragedies
A stir fry gone horribly awry. Let's just leave it at frozen peas and carrots with chicken and a homemade sauce that had way too much soy.

Quinoa and Black Beans
Delicious! I made it as the recipe suggests and though it called for cayenne pepper, it comes in at mild at best, but I will admit, we enjoy jalapenos and serranos regularly. I think the next time I make this I will add roasted red pepper to the mix just to liven up the color scheme. What a great weeknight meal!

Mexican Bean Salad
Yummy. Made exactly as recipe stated, but I think next time I will use cayenne pepper in place of the black pepper and throw in some serrano peppers to make it spicy. Very filling and very tasty.
