Apple Pie!
Pecan Pie!
About this Cook
Hello! I am a traditional girl who probably should have been born in the 40s judging by my determination to make everything from scratch, and the vintage items in my kitchen! I'm a nursing student, and baking/cooking is my escape from reality! I also have a black cat who usually is by my feet during all of my cooking adventures! :-)
My favorite things to cook
I'm definitely a baker by trade. I make amazing pies, and have perfected my crust finally! I also enjoy making cupcakes, and cakes, both traditional and with alcohol to spice things up. Next is candy and truffles!
My favorite family cooking traditions
My great grandmother was an amazing baker. She never measured, and her crust recipe was to die for. My grandmother also bakes amazing pies, so I guess it's in my blood! My mother is more of a cook, but I give her tons of credit for letting me play in the kitchen during my youth!
My cooking triumphs
Oh man... I have a very large photo portfolio of everything I have been making for two years now. Some from recipes I have collected and altered, and some from complete scratch. I would say I am very proud of my pies, and my grilling skills, but my plating skills and knife skills have been improving as well!
My cooking tragedies
We all have those days where we accidentally leave roasted asparagus in the oven for two hours while you were eating supper... Needless to say, I ALWAYS check the oven and fridge before sitting down to eat now!

Allow for adequate cooling time to insure the filling sits up before serving!

Pecan Pie V
I absolutely love how this recipe turned out. My only change is that I added a half of a cup of pecans in the mixture, and then added more to the top as well. I also recommend using homemade crust, because it made it to die for!
