Blueberry Zucchini Bread

Reviewed: Jun. 26, 2012
Very short on flavor, in fact rather bland despite the large quantity of cinnamon.

Truck-Stop Buttermilk Pancakes

Reviewed: Jun. 21, 2012
Might be the best from scratch pancakes I've had. Try it as is before making any changes... then add the fruit and other add ons

Sherry's German Turkey

Reviewed: Dec. 19, 2011
Been using the cavity filler for years so the only thing new for me in this recipe was the addition of the bacon which for me did not add a lot of flavor. Might try it again but was not really that excited about it in the end.

Lentil and Green Collard Soup

Reviewed: Dec. 19, 2011
Wanted to use some greens that we had left after Thanksgiving and this recipe provided that option. Added some left over turkey and made a great meal out of the soup. Definitely recommend this if you want something different and filling.

Cranberry Pistachio Biscotti

Reviewed: Dec. 19, 2010
Have to give this a just OK rating as I'm not real excited about the olive oil flavor that sneaks through. Otherwise this is a good biscotti and I agree with the others who have added that hint of orange; I substituted orange extract for the almond.

Orange Almond Biscotti I

Reviewed: Dec. 19, 2010
Read the comments of others and have these suggestions... Decrease the flour to 2-1/2 to 3 cups (depending on the humidity since the flour will absorb moisture). The orange peel isn't optional if you want that flavor and to heighten the almond add 1/2 teaspoon almond extract. These turned out delicate when firts out of the oven but with the second baking they became a very nice biscotti.

Stovetop Granola

Reviewed: Jun. 20, 2010
Quick and easy. We tried it with dates since they were on hand and it turned out great. Could easily substitute other nuts and dried fruits in this recipe... I'm even thinking a maple-praline curnch idea!

Authentic German Potato Salad

Reviewed: Oct. 10, 2009
Outstanding! Even my picky eater who doesn't like the canned stuff ate this and asked for seconds. Definitely being added to our family's arsenal of side dishes... now if we could just find a way to get the pocky one to eat saurkraut!

Cream Corn Like No Other

Reviewed: Aug. 25, 2009
Quick and easy just as advertised. Used fresh corn since now is the time for it here in Ohio and this had a great fresh corn flavor to it. Left out the Parmesan as we were using this in another recipe but would recommend it if this is to be a stand alone dish as there did seem to be something missing.

Plum Blueberry Upside Down Cake

Reviewed: Aug. 18, 2009
Took the suggestion from another member and just used plums for the topping while mixing the blueberries in the cake and this turned out great. Slice the plums thin and you get that hint of flavor rather than feeling like your biting into a huge chunk of fruit. Next time we are going to try peaches and either raspberries or blackberries as this seem like it would work with most of the summer fruits.

Very easy and very yummy. The chicken comes out moist and the flavor is fantastic. Serve with some pasta and you've got a meal or even a mid-day meal

Berry Custard Pie

Reviewed: Aug. 9, 2009
Very simple recipe that my 11 year old made. He used a graham cracker crust and that may have been some of the difference as there seemed to be something missing flavor-wise. The custard was nice but next time we may try a traditional egg custard and see what happens. Will make it again just because our family loves berries and we need new ways to use them.

Jalapeno Cheese Bread

Reviewed: Aug. 9, 2009
Down sized to make just one loaf the first time through and felt that it needed a little more from the peppers. Added an Anaheim this second time around and used Colby-Jack instead of cheddar and liked it better simply because of more chile flavor. Spinkle a little shredded cheese over the top before baking to add that little extra cheesy crunch (my 11 year old's recommendation!)

Coconut Walnut Biscotti

Reviewed: Dec. 6, 2008
Another post indicated that the flour should be reduced while adding more coconut. I always try the recipe as written before moving on to changes others may recommend; in this case I wish I had cut the flour as these became a little gummy as I worked in the last bit of flour and then the nuts and coconut. So definitely reduce the flour to 3 cups and you'l have better results. As for the flavor, these are A++ with my family!

Personally I like a little more garlic in this than the recipe calls for, but I'm a bit of a garlic freak too. Will agree with the original poster of the recipe; my kids love this too!!
