Potatoes Supreme

Reviewed: Jun. 8, 2010
Very delicious and easy to make! Make sure though you use at least 8 LARGE potatoes, for I used 8 medium sized ones and I had soupy potatoes! Tasted yummy none the less--more like chunky scalloped potatoes. Husband loved it too. We will make this again and enjoy the left overs! UPDATE!! HUsband has made this a couple of times now and he likes to experiment so we've added some changes to this delicious recipe. - Add 1/2 teaspoon of minced garlic to sourcream/soup/cheese mix - Add 3/4 cup of broccoli florets; especially if you think it was too saucy, adds wonderful flavor and some color. - Pan fry the potatoes in butter just a little bit to give them some more texture and some wonderfully rich flavour

Lemon Wow Cake

Reviewed: Oct. 31, 2007
My mother-in-law loved this cake! The coconut pudding and tarragon really brought out the smoothness of the cake. The lemon glaze was delicious too. A simple yet moist cake any lemon lover would enjoy!

Pork Chops a la Slow Cooker

Reviewed: Oct. 31, 2007
Odd but fantastic meal! I omitted the flour and oil, didn't brown the meat, just simply put the chops in the cooker with 2 cans of cream of chicken soup, dash of pepper, tsp of paprika, tsp of garlic powder, tbsp of dijon mustard along with the called for seasoning salt and dry mustard. Yum yum yum. Served it over chicken flavoured rice once and over egg noodles the other time--my hubby loved it. Low for 5-6 hours was sufficient time for melt in your mouth chops, no knives needed! Thanks for the recipe!

Lighter Banana Muffins

Reviewed: Jun. 13, 2006
Wow, these were good! I followed everyone's advice and added 4oz unsweetened applesauce, 4 bananas instead of 3, 1 tsp. of cinnamon and vanilla, and added some brown sugar sprinkled on top. Great advice! Made 12 large muffins. Fill them all the way to the top, they make really beautiful crowns. They stick to the paper, but taste oh so yummy. Thanks for the receipe and advice!

Easy Cheesy Chicken I

Reviewed: Nov. 10, 2005
This was sooooooooooooo good!! I sprinkled the breasts with Italian Seasoning and put a 1/4 tsp of chili powder on top of them in addition to the salt/pepper. I used minced garlic instead of the powder. I did not have any mushroom soup so I subsituted it for another can of cream of chicken. Yummy!! The meat just fell apart in my mouth and the rice was very good with the sauce spread over it. Definitely a keeper!

Sloppy Joes II

Reviewed: Mar. 7, 2005
It was good, but very sweet. We tried adding an extra teaspoon of mustard, but forgot to reduce the ketchup. I chopped up some jalepenos to put on top of my joes, and that helped lessen the sweetness. We'll keep playing with this recipe, it is a keeper.

Banana Sour Cream Bread

Reviewed: Jan. 27, 2005
Oh my goodness!! This bread is sooooooo easy to make, you dont have to change a thing! It took me however, a very long time to put it all together. It says that 10 mins are needed to prep--it took me an hour and 20 mins the first time, and an hour the second time. Ive used walnuts in one, then Ive used peacans in the other--both were equally as good. It was really good to sprinkle some of the cinnamon/sugar mixture to the top of the batch too before cooking--it tastes so good!

Pear Bread II

Reviewed: Dec. 31, 2004
A really great way to use up those old pears in the fridge! I used the tip of the applesauce instead of the oil on the second batch, and it turned out nice and moist.

Fresh Pear Pie

Reviewed: Dec. 31, 2004
It was very good! The second time I made the pie, I ran out of pears, so I added some royal gala apples (which have the same sort of texture as pears) to the pie, and it was a hit!

Apple Crunch Pie I

Reviewed: Dec. 9, 2004
Very good recipe! I used a mix of apples (didnt have any granny smith at the time) and it turned out fine. Pile up the apples, because they do sink down!

Chicken and Biscuit Casserole

Reviewed: Dec. 9, 2004
Wow! Basil!! We loved this recipe! I didnt have any celery, so I used some celery salt. I also added small cubes of potatoes, and they turned out quite nicely! It takes a LONG time to make this dish, but definitely worth it! The left overs went very quickly, and dare I say they actually tasted better than the first time! This is a keeper of a recipe.

Banana Oat Muffins

Reviewed: Dec. 9, 2004
The muffins were good! I substituted the 1/3 cup of oil for the 1/4 cup of oil with almost half a cup of unsweetened apple sauce. I dashed some cinnimon on top of the muffins and made sure that I filled the cups super full (due to them shrinking after baking). They took about 17 minutes in my oven at 400F. I was a bit disappointed in the amount of batter that sticks to the muffin papers when eating (hence the 4 star rating), but I will make them again (with perhaps chocolate chips in them)!

Pear Bread I

Reviewed: Aug. 25, 2004
It was delicious! I checked on it at the 60 minute mark and found out that it was a bit burnt. Overall though, my first try at the recipe worked well. You couldnt taste the pears at all, my husband loved it.
