Creamy Hot Cocoa

Reviewed: Dec. 13, 2011
Made this last night - very good, but a little too sweet. I'm going to try decreasing the sugar when I make this again - which will be tomorrow ;) Thanks for the recipe!!

Clone of a Cinnabon

Reviewed: Nov. 13, 2011
Very delicious. Used the helpful suggestion about how to make it without a bread machine as I don't have one. The frosting was a little too cheesecake for our tastes, but still very yummy. I'll file this recipe away for sure!

Pumpkin Chocolate Chip Muffins

Reviewed: Aug. 30, 2011
What's not to love?! Made these to bring with me on a Sunday morning for church and they were gobbled up by everyone. I definitely had a few myself, and can personally say that the texture and sweetness were perfect for this muffin. Very moist (even though I left them in the oven to long and the bottoms were a little overdone) and overall a great snack. I usually use mini chocolate chips because I prefer a little less chocolate in each bite, but was out when I made these. Still delicious, and not overwhelmingly chocolatey. Will make again for sure!

Strawberry Marshmallow Frosting

Reviewed: Aug. 30, 2011
I have to say, after reading some of the difficulties others had with this recipe I was a little nervous to make it myself. I took the advice to start whipping the egg whites while the syrup was still boiling. I actually had huge success with this recipe. Everyone loved how deliciously marshmallowy it was. It really has just the right amount of strawberry sweetness. It doesn't last very long though. The batch was way more than I needed, and since I wasn't able to use it right away the leftover frosting became very grainy and was unusable after about 48 hours. I'll definitely make it again, but just make sure I'm using all of it right away so none goes to waste :)

Marshmallow Fondant

Reviewed: Aug. 1, 2011
My go-to recipe for tiered cakes. So simple, very delicious. It can get dried out, but i think that has more to do with my lack of experience, and not the fondant itself. A steady constant I'm glad I've added to my arsenal.

Peanut Butter Balls III

Oh. My. Goodness. These delicious and addicting treats didn't last long at home or with my coworkers. Devoured is the best way to describe how these disappeared. Thanks for sharing :)

White Texas Sheet Cake

Reviewed: Aug. 1, 2011
Good. I ended up making three rounds instead of one sheet cake. Simple, and tasty. Very mild flavor - great for a flavorful icing. I think next time I'd try a rich chocolate icing to top it off - that would be scrumptious.

Mrs. Sigg's Snickerdoodles

Reviewed: Aug. 1, 2011
Yum! Made these for a friend and her daughter - and apparently they were gobbled up in no time! Can't say I didn't sneak a few myself before delivery, and I could see why they went so fast :)

Flourless Chocolate Cake I

Reviewed: Aug. 1, 2011
Wow - talk about rich! I have a friend who has celiac's and whenever we get together in a large group I don't want her to feel like she can't enjoy dessert with us. I'm always on the lookout for something new to try, and this was one of the first things I tried. Absolutely delicious, and incredibly chocolaty - I brought the leftovers to work with a disclaimer that said "If you think you know how chocolaty these are you're wrong - they are chocolaty-er." I dusted the top with powdered sugar and brought whipped cream to take the edge off a little. But they were still a hit! Thanks for the recipe :)

My husband and I thought this was delicious. Easy to make, and very yummy. Served with some pasta and a simple red sauce. Will make again.

Carrot Cake III

Reviewed: Aug. 1, 2011
This cake is always a hit when I make it. It's moist and delicious. I will say I didn't stay 100% true to the recipe and took the advice of a few other reviewers (substituting some applesauce, and brown sugar - and I think I added some spices that I thought would be yummy). Either way, this is a fantastic foundation for a great carrot cake. I have a recipe for a cream cheese frosting that I'm kind of partial to, so I skipped this one - but it looks like it would have been good :)

Famous Pork Chops

Reviewed: Aug. 1, 2011
Very tasty! Not as crispy as I was hoping for, but really delicious. The flavor of the crust was really buttery and delicious, and the pork was cooked perfectly (because nothing's worse than undercooked pork). I will probably make again, but maybe use less butter so they stay a little crunchier.

Cheesecake Supreme

Reviewed: Apr. 23, 2011
So bummed to give this less than average review. I've made this three times now, and the last one was the worst. I cooked it for almost 3 hours, and the center was still liquid. that was in my 9 inch pan. The 10 inch pan ones came out a little better, but still had to be cooked for over 2 hours. I guess I've just got to move on and find something else. :(

Too Much Chocolate Cake

Reviewed: Jan. 20, 2011
I never imagined how many compliments I would get making this cake. Everyone who even thought about this cake loved it!! I ended up having to make it twice in the same week, and once was for my husband who swears he hates cake and chocolate. I've been getting requests ever since. Personal twists include: baking it as three 9-inch rounds, homemade whip cream for the filling between layers, homemade chocolate ganache for the frosting, and chocolate curls to dress it up (just find a huge hershey's bar and a potato peeler!). So happy with how it came out. Great recipe! Thanks for sharing!!!

Pumpkin Chip Muffins

Reviewed: Nov. 29, 2010
Very good. Made this for my coworkers as a post Thanksgiving treat. Although a number of them didn't make it to work because my husband and I couldn't stop "tasting" them to make sure they were okay to bring to others. They were so moist and soft. Very delicious. The only things I changed was how much sugar I put in them...but that was because I ran out of sugar at about 1 1/2 cups. Oops - better plan ahead next time :) I will definitely make these again, and would suggest that others give them a try as well. A wonderful fall treat...that I will now go have for breakfast before work :)

Raspberry Cream Cheese Coffee Cake

Reviewed: Sep. 29, 2010
I made this for my coworked after an especially tense week. Boy did it hit the spot. Everyone loved it! I only have a 9 inch springform pan, so it was a little thinner, and a little darker, but that made it nice and nutty. A little dry for my liking - but that was most likely baker error. Still, very good. I would definitely make it again.

Lemon Whippersnappers

Reviewed: Jun. 8, 2010
Good, but very sticky. When they came out of the oven they were still really gooey, and I kept cooking them just a bit longer to see if they would firm up at all. They turned out well, if not a little chewy. I'll make them again for sure.

Rick's Special Buttercream Frosting

Reviewed: Aug. 8, 2009
Not amazing, but definitely not bad. It was just so sweet - we couldn't get the taste out of our mouths. Consistency wise it was very soft. I only used the 6 oz of cream, but I still had to refrigerate it to get it stiff enough to work with for decorating. On the upside, it was very spreadable, and looked nice and flat. However I will be trying another recipe that isn't so overwhelmingly sweet.
