Debdoozie's Blue Ribbon Chili

Reviewed: Oct. 17, 2014
This is great. I used one can of black beans and one of kidney. Easy and relatively quick - minimal prep time, and cook time is pretty short for chili.

Tuna Noodle Casserole from Scratch

Reviewed: Oct. 10, 2014
Good recipe. It needed about double the bread crumbs though. I agree with another rater about being able to cut back on the butter in the sauce, and nutmeg probably would have been a nice addition, as well as a sharper cheese like old cheddar, for more flavor without having to add too much salt.

Banana Cake VI

Reviewed: Sep. 13, 2014
Good but pretty heavy. Very moist though. I added chocolate chips. I think mini chocolate chips would have worked better with the texture, or maybe no chips (first time I have ever said that about banana cake). I made 2 cakes with this - one 8 inch and one 6x8 inch. I had to bake it much longer - 1 hr 20 min, and I thought with2 smaller cakes it should have taken less time.

Outrageous Chocolate Chip Cookies

Reviewed: Aug. 13, 2014
Didn't spread much which is great. I made 24 cookies and I think 18 (as the recipe says) would have been perfect. I actually used natural almond butter since it was soon to expire and they were great.

Hummus III

Reviewed: Jul. 27, 2014
I followed the advice in the reviews to customize it to my taste and it turned out great. Basically less tahini and lemon juice, and added the reserved chick pea juice to thin it. I didn't add any salt since there was salt in the reserved juice.

Cocoa Oatmeal Cookies

Reviewed: May 19, 2014
I added cinnamon and thought they were quite good. Adding another mix-in might make them outstanding, like dried blueberries or cherries or chocolate chips or peanut butter chips or something.

Chocolate Popcorn

Reviewed: May 1, 2014
I made this with 1/2 c unpopped popcorn (but popped it first of course). It was too much popcorn. Next time I would use less. Otherwise the chocolate flavour was good. I added a pinch of course salt to the bowl before transferring to the baking sheet.

Texas Chocolate Frosting

Reviewed: Apr. 11, 2014
This made enough to generously ice a 9x13 pan of brownies. At first I made it as written, but only half a recipe. It was too sweet for me, so I increased everything so that I ended up with the full recipe, except just over half the amount of sugar, and lots of extra cocoa. I liked it that way better. I also know from past experience that substituting brewed coffee for the milk is amazing, I just didn't have any coffee. I would do that next time if possible.

Sylvia's Ribs

Reviewed: Mar. 18, 2014
Loved it. I made the full amount of sauce and would have liked more. I may have boiled it too hard, because it got very thick. But still amazing.

Trout with Lime and Thyme

Reviewed: Mar. 18, 2014
I baked it in the oven at 375 and then broiled it briefly. My family liked it, but I would use a little less lime juice next time.

Baked Salmon Fillets Dijon

Reviewed: Feb. 11, 2014
Very easy. I doubled the amount of salmon and kept all the topping amounts the same and there was plenty of topping. I thought the mustard was quite dominant in the dish.

Easiest Spicy Cod

Reviewed: Feb. 3, 2014
I used only half the amount of salsa which was more than enough. It was just okay, but better when I put shredded cheese on top like one reviewer suggested. Super easy though, so I might make it again just for that reason. Maybe next time I'll try mango lime salsa.

Toddler Muffins

Reviewed: Jan. 20, 2014
Pretty tasty, even for grownups. Nice texture, too. I added more spice, as I do with most muffin or other recipes, especially when they are healthy and relatively low sugar.

Baked Haddock

Reviewed: Jan. 15, 2014
I was pleasantly surprised. This was even tastier than I expected. I guess it must have been the thyme that did something magical. I cooked it much longer (not sure, 20-30min?) at 350 degrees because I had something else in the oven, which worked out fine. This was easy and I will make it regularly.

Sweet Potato Bread I

Reviewed: Dec. 22, 2013
I made this for my toddler so I cut the sugar in half and it was still good! Better the next day is it seems to get moister. I also increased the cinnamon a lot

Caramel Shortbread Squares

Reviewed: Oct. 30, 2013
Amazing. I have not yet added the chocolate layer because I don't want it to get that white film when I freeze these bars. I'm debating not even adding it, because the piece I sampled already tastes so amazing.

Cream Cheese Frosting II

Reviewed: Oct. 30, 2013
This icing is good. I made it as written except tasted it after 1/2 c sugar, 1c sugar, and then the full 2 cups. All ways were good, just depends what you like. It still seemed to lack a certain something though. I tried adding another 1/2 t vanilla, and then a pinch of salt. I think this helped, but still lacks the amazing taste I'm looking for but still haven't found (except at a certain cupcake shop). But still a good recipe, and the best cream cheese icing I have ever made myself.

Pumpkin Pie Bars

Reviewed: Oct. 19, 2013
Very good, but could have used more crunch. Next time I might bake the crust a bit first, and/or add toasted pecans to the topping. A good alternative to pumpkin pie for our family Thanksgiving potluck. Got good reviews.

Toasted Garlic Bread

Reviewed: Oct. 19, 2013
I also cut the entire loaf into 2 halves like many other reviewers. Very good. I left out the salt for health reasons and didn't miss it.
