Cranberry Sauce

Reviewed: Nov. 27, 2013
This has been my recipe for quite a few years, it's great every time. So simple, not too sweet, not too tart. Sometimes I throw in a cinnamon stick during cooking if I have one on hand.

Dumplings

Reviewed: Nov. 7, 2013
This is a great, simple recipe, quick to put together and the dumplings are always light and yummy! I use butter instead of margarine, and sometimes put a little sage in if the mood strikes. Thanks!

Chicken Fettuccini Alfredo

Reviewed: Nov. 6, 2013
After chopping my onion I thought it looked like a lot, so I just added half of it. I ended up having to strain it out because of the overwhelming onion taste (and I like onion). Also, for my taste the cheese was a misfit, I don't know why I even added the colby jack because at that point I knew it wasn't going to work. I made this for a special dinner, I can't say the occasion was ruined, but the meal just wasn't good. Sorry :(

Grandma Jeanette's Amazing German Red Cabbage

Reviewed: Oct. 16, 2013
I debated between 4 and 5 stars, only because of the salt. I used a half teaspoon, it was plenty. I've tried several different recipes for red cabbage, this one is my favorite. It's not too sweet, not too sour, and makes a nice amount.

Glasser's Greek Marlin

Reviewed: Dec. 30, 2012
I made this with swordfish, and was very disappointed. Maybe marlin would have worked better, a little confusing because the name of the recipe is marlin but the ingredients say swordfish. Anyway, I used four mefium swordfish steaks, and cut back on the amount of butter used to bake the fish in, but it was still soggy. Grilling the fish would have been much better. For the tomato/basil mixture I replaced half of the butter with olive oil, if I tried again I would have used only a bit of olive oil. There was too much basil for the tomatoes I used, I used three medium sized tomatoes, I think about half of the basil would have been enough. When the tomato/basil mix starts to boil, instead of reducing the heat, I should have removed the pan from the heat- the basil was overcooked and overpowering. I gave this three stars because my husband liked it, a good thing because there are lots of leftovers.

Zippy Barbecue Sauce

Reviewed: Apr. 10, 2012
I have been using this recipe for a couple years now, it is by far our favorite. It has just the right mix of flavors, and I almost always have the ingredients on hand, although I sometimes substitute honey for the molasses and minced fresh garlic for the powder. It works well on pork, beef and chicken, in the crockpot, on the grill or in the oven. I have tried using it without refrigerating it first, it's good but best when it has a chance for the flavors to blend.

Chicken Broccoli Ca - Unieng's Style

Reviewed: Aug. 1, 2011
I made the recipe exactly as written, but because I used baby bok choy I added it after the broccoli had cooked for a few minutes. We enjoyed it last night, and the leftovers were even better today :) I'd highly recommend going to an Asian market if you can and buying high quality dark soy sauce and oyster sauce (cheaper too!). This is a good basic stir fry and would be great with many combos of meat and veggies.

Sage Pork Chops

Reviewed: Jul. 8, 2011
I used 1/2 tsp salt and low sodium beef broth, but it was still a little salty for me. Otherwise, a great recipe and very easy. I'll make this again for sure.

Eggplant Croquettes

Reviewed: May 24, 2011
I had an old eggplant that I needed to do something with, and this was the only recipe I could find that I had all the ingredients for... I really didn't expect to like it, but it was really good! I think next time I'll chop up a jalapeno really fine and throw it in to give it a little extra kick, but as written it's a really good recipe. Thanks!

Baked Haddock

Reviewed: Nov. 18, 2010
Great little recipe, easy and really quick. The fillets I bought were a little thin, and I checked at 12 minutes and they were done. I also cut way back on the salt, just used a sprinkling, especially since the parmesan is very salty. I'll definitely make this one again!

Pork Tamale Pie

Reviewed: Aug. 28, 2004
It was OK the first day, I gave it 4 stars because it was better as leftovers. I might make it again if I had some leftover pork. I added extra chili powder, it would be better with black olives and cheese topping.
