Black Magic Cake

Reviewed: Jan. 31, 2005
This was a huge hit. I made it with chocolate cream cheese frosting and added a layer of fresh strawberries in the middle to give it a little lightness. The friend I made it for doesn't even like cake (I didn't know this before hand) and she loved it. Definetly a keeper.

Pad Thai

Reviewed: Nov. 17, 2004
The first time I made it, it was too spicy to eat, the second time I made it, the fish sauce overpowered every other taste.

Chicken Breasts with Balsamic Vinegar and Garlic

Reviewed: Oct. 22, 2004
Fantastic. I needed a recipe to make on a budget that wouldn't taste like cardboard, and this was definetly it. Particularly loved the way the mushrooms tasted. I will make this again.

Lemon Pie II

Reviewed: Oct. 22, 2004
I made this because everyone else seemed to think it was great, but I thought it was terrible. I softened the cream cheese and beat the heck out of it and it was still lumpy. Then I tried to eat a piece and the first bite made me feel sick. I don't know how my boyfriend made it through a whole slice.

Tropical Salad with Pineapple Vinaigrette

Reviewed: Sep. 21, 2004
Because we had a vegan guest, I left out the bacon and forgot the onions, but was still told it was the best dish I made all night. Also, I used spinach in place of romaine because I always prefer to use spinach when I can. Fantastic.

Watermelon Fire and Ice Salsa

I love this. Even my boyfriends parents, who are incredibly close minded and picky, asked me for this recipe.

Jay's Jerk Chicken

Reviewed: Sep. 21, 2004
This wasn't spicy (especially not compared to the Caribbean Pasta), and I don't think it tasted like jerk chicken, but it was fantastic. We barbequed it at a tiki party and it was gone as fast as the beer battered coconut shrimp. I will make this again as soon as I get some more soy sauce.

Coconut Shrimp I

Reviewed: Sep. 21, 2004
I quadrupled the recipe for a party and they were still gone in an instant. I will definetly make this again.

Caribbean Pasta with Shrimp

Reviewed: Sep. 21, 2004
Fantastic. Made this for my boyfriends tiki party and everyone wanted the recipe. I left out the cilantro (ick) and used ground allspice instead of the whole berries and it was great.

Great Garlic Beer Steaks

Reviewed: Aug. 27, 2004
This smelled good, but made the meat taste like teriyaki beef jerky. It would be a good marinade for that, but not for steak.
