Bacon Wrapped Water Chestnuts II

Reviewed: May 12, 2006
Definitly not what I was expecting. I followed the directions exactly and they certainly didn't taste like any bacon-wrapped water chestnuts I'd had before. Very thick and sticky ketchup flavor. None of my guests seemed to like them either. I won't be making these again, sorry.

Creole Okra

Reviewed: Apr. 11, 2006
Definitely my favorite way to have okra. Even my kids enjoyed this recipe, (I was afraid it might be too spicy). I mixed the leftovers in a gumbo soup I made with it and served them together which worked well too. Yum!

Grandma's Rhubarb Torte

Reviewed: Apr. 11, 2006
My mom used to make this all the time. Everyone would always ask for the recipe! She also uses Splenda when preparing for some of our diabetic relatives and it turns out great. I'm going to have to plant rhubarb this year, just so I can make this recipe! Delicious!

Asparagus Quiche

Reviewed: Apr. 11, 2006
Amazing taste. I made a few of these Easter morning last year for my guests and everyone raved. I plan on making it a family tradition. They reheated well too. Even better the second day!

Stuffed Pepper Soup IV

Reviewed: Apr. 11, 2006
This soup is amazing. I've always been a fan of stuffed peppers and had to try it. My whole family enjoyed it. I made just a few small changes. Used 1.5 lbs of venison burger, added an extra green pepper, minced garlic and garlic salt, and used 3 cans of broth (2 chicken, 1 beef). Also wanted to mention; in the decription it says beef broth and in the recipe it states chicken broth. I think it's supposed to be beef broth in the recipe. But it's tasty either way. Thanks for the recipe!

Pan-Fried Asparagus

Reviewed: Feb. 19, 2006
Very yummy! I thought it was a little too buttery though since I'm used to steamed veggies. I'll probaby cut the amount of butter in half next time and I think it would still be just as tasty. Also, I added just a dash of lemon juice to mine which turned out well.

Feta Chicken

Reviewed: Feb. 6, 2006
A great basic recipe. I made quite a few changes by adding extras to spice things up. I will definitely keep making variations since I think it would be hard to mess up this recipe. The whole family enjoyed. Thanks!

Baked Potato Soup I

Reviewed: Feb. 4, 2006
Pretty good. The cheese made an odd (grainy?) sort of texture when stirred in, but still tasty. The green onions were wonderful for flavor and a little bit of color. Next time I think I'll just sprinkle the cheese on top of each bowl and let it melt, instead of stirring it in.

Easy Garlic Broiled Chicken

Reviewed: Jan. 29, 2006
Made this with boneless skinless chicken breast and it was delicious! I was wary about using that much minced garlic, but it turned out perfectly. Quick and easy, juicy and flavorful. Will definitely make again.

Stuffed Halibut

Reviewed: Jan. 29, 2006
There is no mistaking that you are pretty much eating warm cream cheese on top of an expensive piece of fish. Yuck. The filling seems like it would be more fitting as a cracker or bagel topping. All of my family ended up scraping the filling off and just eating the fish. Will definitely not be making this one again. Sorry.

Chili Chicken and Rice

Reviewed: Jan. 22, 2006
This was so good! My whole family just loved it, including my very picky 6 year old. I substituted shredded taco cheese blend (cheddar and asadaro cheese w/ taco seasoning) for the pepper jack cheese which worked out well. The only thing I'll do differently next time is after cooking the chicken and before readding it back into the pan, I'll cut it up into bite size pieces since it's easier to do before it's covered in the mixture and cheese when served. Fast and easy to make. Very tasty, I highly recommend.

Chili Cheese Dip I

Reviewed: Jan. 6, 2006
This is so simple to make and everyone always asks me for the recipe! The only thing I do differently is I layer the cream cheese (1 pkg), chili (1 or 2 - 14 oz cans), and cheddar cheese (1-2 c.) and bake it in a 9x9 cassarole dish. Sometimes if I want to add a little spice, I'll stir in 1/2 cup of salsa and some chopped jalapenos to the chili. So very good with corn chips or tortilla chips. Perfect for game days. :D

Kool Ade Punch

Reviewed: Jan. 6, 2006
Made this for my son's Kindergarten class and they all loved it. Even the parents kept going back for seconds. The only thing I changed was I used a whole 12 oz. can of Orange Juice concentrate and left out the lemonade since I couldn't find the 6 oz. cans. It was still wonderfully tasty.

Blue Ribbon Sugar Cookies

Reviewed: Jan. 6, 2006
I usually dread making sugar cookies for Christmas because they're so much work, but these were some of the easiest and tastiest sugar cookies ever. Didn't have lemon extract, so I just put in about a tablespoon of lemon juice concentrate. I also substituted a teaspoon of almond extract for the lemon in one batch which everyone seemed to like. Very good. I'll definitly be keeping this recipe for future use.

Thai Noodles

My first attempt at making Thai food and it turned out wonderfully. It was a little too spicy for my 5 year old but every one else in the family loved it. I'll definitly make this again.

Quick Eggplant Parmesan

Reviewed: Aug. 5, 2005
YUM, YUM, YUM! This recipe was delicious! Everyone raved. I couldn't believe how fast and easy it was. The only things I did differently is slice the eggplant about 1/4 inch thick, instead of 3/4 inch and I peeled about half of the peel off of it in verticle strips around the eggplant. I used 1 Tbs. olive oil in a non-stick skillet, it cooked all the way through and nothing burned. Served over whole wheat spaghetti made for a perfect meal. THANKS!!!

Easy and tasty! Everyone loves them. For my own personal preferrence, I reduce the sugar a bit and add a little extra peanut butter. So good! Thanks!

BBQ Chicken Sandwiches

Reviewed: Jul. 16, 2005
Much better than simply adding bbq sauce to shredded chicken. However, it seems like there is too much mustard, and the balance of flavors is just a little off. I suppose everyone's tastes are a little different. It's definately a starting point though where I can make it into something I love. Thanks!

The perfect pecan pie. Easy to make and yummy! I used 1/2 light and 1/2 dark corn syrup and it seemed to be just right. Everyone loved it. I wouldn't change a thing.
