About this Cook
I started cooking at when I was 10. My mother got ill and could not cook for a week. Believe me .... this was a blessing because my mother, G-d bless her soul, couldn't cook a good meal to save her life. Because of my age ... there was one restriction: I could cook anything I wanted, but I was not permitted to use the stove/oven. I could only use the microwave. My first meal a Honey Baked Ham. It was so good, my mother did not (Thank G-d) cook another meal until the day I moved out! :-) I must admit. Cooking is not one of my favorite past-times. However, I love to eat good food! If I could eat out every night and eat as well as I do at home: I would be THE Jewish American Princess. We would be eating out every night. Unfortunately, in order to immensely please the palatte and dine like Royalty... I must cook!

Homemade Tomato Sauce I
I have never made tomato sauce from scratch. I doubled the ingredients as my tomatoes were quite small. I made it per the recipe, but then added a 6 oz can of tomato paste, a little sea salt, sauteed ground beef and used an immersion blender to blend it all together. Definitely a keeper! :D

Yellow Squash Patties
I did not give it five stars for three reasons.I added garlic cloves, cumin, basil, and oregano as per another reviewer. Second, there was not enough egg and therefore the patties fell apart regardless how long I cooked them. I doubled the corn meal and added two eggs. Finally, I split the oil in half and used the difference in butter to make them less oily. The patties are very tasty! I served them with both sour cream and apple sauce. I would, however, only make these for some special occasion as they are fried and absorb too much fat during cooking.
