Paige's Feta Slaw

Reviewed: Jun. 27, 2010
loved this slaw without SUGAR, which is tough to find! cut down the oil to 1/4 cup...found it to be a little too peppery, but that's just my taste. Overall I thought it was great! Ate it as a side dish to some turkey burgers - fantastic!!

Swiss Chicken Casserole II

Reviewed: Oct. 5, 2009
Very quick and easy to make, but tastes just like every other chicken and "cream of" soup - it is ok in a pinch, but nothing fantastic. I love stuffing, so that made it better and provided some crispness. I would definitely recommend taking the cover off at some point to crisp up the stuffing a bit.

Chicken Crescent Casserole

Reviewed: Jul. 24, 2007
I only thought this was ok. My kids - age 2 and 5 agreed. I substituted cream of mushroom for cream of mushroom/chicken, as it was all I had. I also substituted light sour cream for regular, and lastly I used Miracle Whip in place of mayonnaise. I'm not sure if it was the use of those substitutions or not, but this just didn't knock my socks off. There are definitely more interesting chicken casserole recipes out there.

Rainbow Pasta Salad I

Reviewed: Jul. 8, 2007
This was the first time I've made pasta salad, and I made it for a 4th of July potluck BBQ. I was happy with the results - it looked good and almost all of it was gone by the end. I think next time I would change my dressing - I used Wishbone Italian (3/4 of a bottle, not the whole thing) and I just wasn't impressed with the dressing. Next time I'll try another - perhaps a Zesty Italian. HOwever, in spite of that, I was still pleased with the results. I also added halved cherry tomatoes and red bell peppers to perk it up a little. The pepperoni and cheese add an antipasto-like taste, which was delicious!

Almond Chicken Casserole II

Reviewed: Jan. 29, 2007
This was ok, if I make it again I'll definitely make some changes. As it was, I followed some previous reviewers' advice and doubled the soup and added more sour cream than mayo. It also used brown rice and bulked up the almonds and celery. I think it needs a little more in the way of seasoning, and I can't imagine it coming out right with only one can of soup. Also, i think I might try sliced sauteed mushrooms next time - and possibly as other reviewers mentioned I might try toasting the almonds to add to the flavor. It was a good base for a casserole, but could definitely use some tweeking based on personal tastes.

Cheddar Chicken

Reviewed: Jan. 17, 2007
I was less than thrilled with this recipe. I followed it exactly, but the biggest complaint I have about it is that the breading mixture simply did not stick very well to the chicken. This left the chicken with a blotchy coating of breading, which I think detracted from the taste as well as the appearance of the dish. I think if I were to make it again, I would look for another way - perhaps dipping in an egg mixture instead.

Flaky Crescent Mushroom Turnovers

Reviewed: Jan. 4, 2007
I followed this recipe exactly, and found that there simply was not enough of the mushroom filling to fill 8 crescents (the amount in my package). I ended up making only 6 turnovers, and even then I didn't feel that there was enough of the filling for the 6 crescent rolls. It was not bad tasting at all - but I would definitely double or triple the amount of filling if I made again, otherwise all you end up tasting is the crescent roll. It had a good taste, just not enough of it,in my opinion.

Sausage Cheese Bites Snack

Reviewed: Jan. 4, 2007
First of all, I must say, that my expectations of what this recipe would be were far different than what the recipe turned out like. I thought it would have much more of a sausage taste & texture as opposed to a biscuit taste and texture. I should have been clued in by the amount of Bisquick it called for because as other reviewers said, there was far too much of a plain biscuit taste. I think I would either double the sausage or cut the Bisquick in half if I made them again. And yes, they were extremely sticky to work with and try to roll into balls. They were ok - not the worst thing I've ever made, but definitely not the best. Perhaps with some tweeking, I will play around with this recipe again to try to make it more to our liking.

Hot Crab Dip

Reviewed: Dec. 30, 2006
I made this for Christmas and it was delicious. I used more crabmeat than called for in the recipe, and it was wonderful and simple to make. I also substituted one of the two bricks of cream cheese for the low fat version to try to keep calories down. My guests enjoyed it!

Cocktail Meatballs

Reviewed: Dec. 30, 2006
I made these meatballs for Christmas, and it was the first time I've ever made cocktail meatballs. It was quite simple to prepare and the fact that they were in a slow cooker freed up my oven and stovetop which was nice. They were great tasting, and my guests complimented them many times! I will save this recipe for future get-togethers.

Ham and Cheese Quiche

Very easy, very quick preparation and it is quite tasty as well! The only changes I made were using frozen chopped spinach and leftover cubed ham from Christmas - it turned out very nicely. I'll keep this recipe!

Herb-Stuffed Red Peppers

The whole family loved these, including a 2 yr old and a 4 yr old! The only change I made was decreasing the cayenne by half, as I wasn't sure how my kids would like it if it were too spicy. I'll be making this again!

Turkey Pot Pie II

My family of 4, including 2 picky kids, gobbled this up! The only changes I made to the recipe were substituting some leftover turkey gravy for some of the cream soup. I will definitely make again - it's simple and a great way to use up the Thanksgiving leftovers!

Bodacious Broccoli Salad

Excellent! Made this for a 4th of July party, and it was devoured! My only change was the same as many other reviewers - i cut the pepper back to 1 tsp and it seemed perfect. I will definitely be making this again! What a great way to eat a veggie that many people don't like prepared in other ways!

Family Casserole

Reviewed: Jun. 10, 2006
Boring. I made this with a few substitutes - had to use mixed veggies instead of broccoli, used one can cream of mushroom and one can cream of celery instead of the only one can of soup called for in the recipe, and used a corn flake topping moistened with some margarine. First of all, I cannot imagine making this with only one can of soup - it would have been much too dry. I had to also use much more cheese than the recipe called for, and it still was not enough. I just wasn't a fan of this recipe. My kids and husband thought it was ok, but I will not be making it again. I was looking for something to do with some leftover chicken when I came across this recipe, but it was just boring. It was sort of like chicken a la king all mixed together. I guess I just don't agree with the high ratings the other reviewers have given this recipe. By no means am I picky or a gourmet, but I still was just not a fan of this recipe.

Reuben Noodle Bake

Reviewed: Mar. 26, 2006
Pretty good. I followed the recipe exactly, used leftover corned beef from St. Patty's meal, and the family seemed to enjoy it. It was quite simple to prepare, as well, which makes it a great weeknight dinner. I don't usually have corned beef on hand, so would probably either use deli corned beef or canned corned beef if I make again. I'm not sure which type the recipe would be best with.

Paprika Pork Chops

Reviewed: Mar. 23, 2006
The recipe was ok. I followed it exactly, except I doubled the sauce. The kids wouldn't touch it, my husband said it was "unique" and I was simply not overly impressed. Broiling the chops made them too tough as well. This seem like it would almost be better if the chops were browned and then finished off in a casserole or a crock pot.
